Other than some half-hearted attempts people have made at teaching me, DDR is as close as I've ever gotten. That's more flailing though.
DDR is like... westernized Highland Dancing.

....

Wait... that came out wrong.

Actually, it's Asian, so easternized.

Anyone can slow dance.

That means that I can, by technicality, dance.

Score!

Telephalsion 07-31-2007 04:25 AM

Slow dancing is nice, it can be everything from just a swaying hug, to a full out foxtrot.
It's sad that people look strangely on you if you try to do some disco moves, they're so fun.

Old crazy legs is what they call me round these parts. That should answer all your problems.

I'm not allowed to dance anymore.

Am I the only dancer?

I love dancing, but usually my dancing is the choreographed type(or at least semi-choreographed). I took dance classes for 13 years (Ballet, Jazz, and Tap), and I got to dance many different places, including in front of my entire town during the forth of July, and at an Embassy, and in some competitions. My senior year I got to go on stage completely by myself with a tap solo. (sadly, when it came time to do the final one of my senior solo, I got on stage and blanked at one part, luckily I was able to think on my feet and I made up my dance as I went until I remembered what I was supposed to do. Regardless, it was a frustrating way to end my time at the dance studio)

My number one favorite form of dance is tap dancing, followed by jazz. Jazz is fun because it's more free-form, and... I pretty much hated ballet. Mostly because my ballet teacher had the idea that if ballet wasn't your LIFE. you weren't good enough for her.

On top of that, I took a semester of swing dancing, in which I can dance both the lead(the person who directs the dance through subtle hand gestures as you go(the guy part, usually)) and the follow(the person who is directed(the girl part)). I prefer the follow. If you can get a good lead, swing dancing is AMAZING.

Someday I would love to learn other forms of dance, like ballroom dancing, but for now, those are the only ones in my repertoire. Other than those kind of dancing, I don't do a lot of non-choreographed dancing, but I don't go to a lot of dances, so that may be the reason.

Yay dance!

I will dance,
mostly with joy
never alone
and never with boys.

I am a master of tha Bootay shaking.
If you saw me shake this money maker,
you'd realize why, I am in fact,
stacking the paper up.

Love it

"The Santa dance" still hasn't failed me yet.

RaiRai 07-31-2007 10:41 AM

I've wanted to learn how to dance, actually. It just doesn't fit in with my lifestyle right now though, so it remains a dream. I want to learn rock and roll dancing with all that swirling around and being thrown over guys shoulders. <3
