Immortal RP: interest thread

The idea is simple, all PCs are immortals. Each character must name one spot of weakness that if destroy or you are killed while seperated from it, you die. Now if could be a part of your body, lets say the brain.

If you are injured while in contact with your item you will simple regenerate your injuries. However if your seperated from your item you will not heal, and if you are killed, your dead. If the item is destroyed you will instantly die.

If the weakness is physically part of you, if killed your body will heal and you will be revived assuming that part is attached and intact.

I might tweak things abit but thats the general idea. I wanted to see if anyone was interested.

Also, should I imploy highlander rules? Things like, places you cannot fight and killing another immortal makes you stronger? Just asking for input.

This sounds pretty interesting to me. I don't know all that much about Highlander, but the places you can't fight thing sounds like an interesting idea. Not sure about the killing other immortals makes you stronger, though.

If you include the Highlander rules, the RP will devolve into a bunch of PC v. PC fights where we each try to figure out what our life-elonger is and then battle to the death for them.

If you don't include the Highlander aspect, you don't really have an RP, you just have a bunch of immortal people standing around being immortal and little else.

well, there is a variety of motovations you can get, like one immortal is trying to rule the earth or something.

But, yea probably gonna be a PvP.

Satan's Onion 08-03-2007 03:11 AM

We-ell, it's an interesting idea at its core, although I hope it isn't all PvP stuff (partly 'cos I've never done that before, and partly 'cos I'm a weak girly-type who likes a good story to get involved in).

I even have a seed of an idea for a character which is totally so not a rip-off of something else, 'cos rip-offs make baby Jesus cry and I'd never do that. Let's see how this RP idea fares, shall we?

Aerozord 08-03-2007 09:20 PM

ok this is my more refined idea.

First off, I will just have items, so scrap the "part of you" thing.

If you die while in contact with your item you will revive once your body heals. Which normally takes about a day. Ownership of an item can change, but only if the current owner dies while not in possession of their item. In such an event, the person currently in possesion of it becomes bound to it. If no one currently is, then the next person to get ahold of it becomes the new owner. The owner cannot kill himself or destroy his own item. If they are seperated the fates will somehow bring the item back into the owners hand. Finally, if an item is destroyed the owner immediately dies.

I will probably give some effect to destroying the items, but haven't decided, and even when I do I might leave that a mystery. There is a way to unbind a person to their item, but if you want it (or want to destroy it) you will have to quest for it.

There will be places you cant fight. Hallowed ground, places where the dead lay to rest, or places where prayers to the dead or devine are offered.

This looks interesting. Is this going to be medivial or modern or something like that?

Because I can easily come up with a character, I just need a setting.

Aerozord 08-04-2007 06:59 PM

I'm gonna be going with modern, character can gain his immortality at any time in history. Oh and the items first come into existance through divine intervention, but that doesn't mean your nessicarily the first either.

oh and also keep in mind the stress and mental damage centuries of life inflict on a person. One reason I made it so a cure exists, is because some will no doubt view it as a curse instead of a blessing.

Irigriel 08-04-2007 08:12 PM

Okay, good. I'm making my character now. A query though, do we choose what the items are? Like a cloak, an amulet or something like that?

Aerozord 08-04-2007 08:39 PM

yes, when sign-ups are actually made you will PM me about which item on your person is the item granting you immortality.

not now though, I gotta clear out my box abit
