GameCube2 PS3 and Xbox2. who knows?
Does any one actually know any thing about the next bach of systems i kinda know a few rumors but thats about it, Who knows?
this is what i know: the ps3 will have a hard drive stock. the ps3 will be 100s of times more powerful than the ps2. i dont know any thing about GC2 or the Xbox2. Rumors i know: the PS3 will have a wireless controller stock (doubtful) the duleshock3 will have a new butten(meybe) the ps3 will get rid of the disc tray. thats all i can think of for now. |
The PS3 will be HUNDREDS of times more powerful than the PS2? I'm sorry, but that right there is a might bit unrealistic, wouldn't you say?
|
its just what i read and its not a rumor so i didnt put it with the rumors. all that is what i read in egm and psm. so dont look at me funny. they are the ones who do the research not me.

Simple mathmatics will prove that the PS3 will surpass both the Xbox2 and the GC2.
3>2. |
I don't think it's the right time just yet to think about next gen consoles... We still have some time to enjoy the ones we own now! Do we really want to think about the Gamesphere, Y box and PSS (Play SUPER Station!)? All I know about the newest set is that Nintendo is really working to pump theirs out before Sony and Microsoft. Which could be a good thing, or a very, very bad thing.

Everything is a rumor about the new systems, including all those 'facts' you put up for the PS3. Those have all been classified as rumors on some sites and magazines while facts on others (which let's face it, want to increse PlayStation hype). And you can't tell what will happen because they can change it, finding the system too expencive before launch and taking out one or two elements to changing the WHOLE system around to better suit the market at the time.
So let's not say these are facts until they are unveiled. Because none of them have been. |
I thin ps3 will dominate, whether we like it or not. GC2 will follow shortly, desperately clinging to its increasingly-shrinking fan-base, while Xbox2 releases late yet still gets the #2 slot.
history repeats itself ;) |
Its XBoxNext...but yeah, Sony just sold 100,000 PSXs in Japan, and those things are like $1000 a pop, so its safe to say that whatever Sony creates hardware wise will dominate.

Hmm, I've read a breakdown of the Cell patent (Cell being the PS3's processor) and it was interesting. If Sony sticks with the Cell as it is in the patent then the PS3 will be massively parallel. To the point where no one would ever be able to even come close to utilizing the complete power of the system. Like the PS2 on steroids.
The GC2 I know little of, other than that ATI is making the GPU for the unit and I believe the CPU will be IBM/NEC or something like that. As for the Xbox2 (or next or whatever) I know that IBM is developing the CPU and AIT the GPU. Rumors have it that the system will have a 3 CPU core. There is also news out that the Dev kit is already out, and that it's built on a G5, 9800Pro, and runs a NT kernel. Though it's very unlikely that the dev kit represents the Xbox2 hardware. If it really uses a multi-core CPU, it's more likely to be the PPC 976. |

As Mr. T would say..."I pittee 'da foo' who wanna nex' nex' gen system. lets play a quick (okay maybe not so quick) number game: It's unrealistic to say the ps3 would be hundreds of times more powerful than ps2. it's current processor speed is at 300 MHz (HAHA-my 5 year old POS computer has more power). multiply by only 100 and we end up with 30,000MHz or 30GHz. the damn thing would melt unless it was about 20 times the size of a ps2 to allow for some hideously expensive and large cooling equipment similar to those used in nuclar power plants etc. it also roughly has 32 MB of ram. once again, multiply by only 100 and you get 3200 mb or 3.2 GB. this is a tad more realistic, in terms of using it, but really, who's gonna have a game so freaking inefficient or large to take up 3.2 gigs of ram (and could it really fit on less than 4 disks?)? Sony, being the increasingly money grubbing corporation probably isn't going to throw anything much faster than about a 2-2.5 GHz processor in it, maybe with 128-256MB of ram, 512 at most ...tens of times might be more accurate. anyways, now for the reason I posted: [PC supremacist] -no matter how modern consoles get, PCs will always be faster and better, albeit more expensive (the PC's only downfall when comparing to consoles). -of course the consoles have a small chance ending up with better graphics capabilities due to their specialization, but it will most likely paralell the computer industry's video capabilities. -PCs are upgradible, consoles arent (excluding near-worthless accesorization). -once again with money grubbing corporations...of course there will now be HDs in these consoles. pair that with an online service, and you can download new content, patches, mods, etc...but will it all be free? probably not. they're probably going to charge a flat rate for internet connection or individual files will come with a cost. individuals making files for the consoles will probably be illegal due to game license agreeements. -currently, and probably in the future, you usually have to pay to play online with consoles. there are plenty of games played for free on the PC. -game selection is growing less exclusive. of course nintendo has its beloved set of signature characters, but apart from that, the game selection in the future will no doubt be about 80% the same amongst ALL consoles and the PC. (honestly, right now I've never found a post SNES console-only game that i couldn't live without). and if i should find one as pigs fly and hell freezes over, i'll just find a way to emulate it (legally, mind you). -(this one is just my opinion)FPS games are horrible without a keyboard and mouse.....and if one more person talks about 'how good Halo is' to me (it isn't good at all...but that's another rant)....grrr [/PC supremacist] [/LongRant] |
