Yup, that's right. Lucasarts wanted to "play it safe" and opted out of creating what looked like, an amazing *NEW* adventure game.

Yah, it bites.

Anyway, I suggest you read the article above, which has a few things you can do to hopefully restart this title.

I hate LucasArts. I hate them with a fiery passion. I've always loved Sam & Max ever since it came out; I own all the comics and I even made a little statue Max head. I was going to pre-order this game, but noooo, LucasArts has to mess things up and cancel it. After Monkey Island 3, everything they made started to suck, and they cancelled this game because they were afraid of.. uh.. not sucking. I will now cease my unremitting whining, and carry on with my Metal Slug.

Wow, that really sucks. I was actually going to buy that too. I still have Sam and Max Hit the Road for PC. I point the blame at noneother than Conroy Bumpus.

Full Throttle 2 was cancelled a while ago, not Sam & Max. At least not that I'm aware of...

Anyway, it's kinda nice to see there are some people out there that at least remembered. As soon as I read about this, I shot straight over here to post the thread, but I was beaten out.

Anyway, this is sorely disappointing, as I was a huge fan of the first game and the comics. More than any game on the PC, I was looking forward to SM:FP above anything else. Looking at LucasArts' track record though, I'm hardly surprised.

At the risk of sounding immature, I'll say that this is the final nail in the LucasArts coffin, in my book. I won't be purchasing any future releases from them, unless through some miracle this game ever makes it out.

That was the greatest old game, the humor was brilliant, and I even still remember the mini-comic in the back of the Sam and Max hit the road instruction booklet... I hate you, lucasarts...

god damnit, i was gonna buy this for a girl ive been trying to impress for a while now. she' really like sam and max, like...alot. and then lucas arts was like "NOW IS TEH TIME WEN WE CRUSH YUOR HAPPINES! HON HON HON!"

Either you're being sarcastically mean, sarcastically stupid, or both is not apparent. As has been mentioned, the announcment of the cancellation of S&M:Freelance Police is just out. The decision was made by the acting General Manager, and therefore still could be released once they can hire an actual General Manager to replace him.

The closest thing that you could be mixing this up with, is the cancellation of the sequel to Full Throttle.
