Warhammer

Be it fantasy or 40k, I find it fun, not only as the tabletop game it is, but also as some form of creative meditation, sculpting the lumps of plastic and metal, positioning and painting to perfection.
Too bad I have too little patience to paint all models meticulously.
But even with a semi-shabby paint job my High Elven army still looks neat.

What parts of the whole do you prefer or enjoy the most? And what races/factions do you collect?

i like painting the said figures, gets me at a state of mind that i am having some trouble getting to. i collect 40k space marines in my home made chapter colours, also collecting orcs for fantasy, thats the race i like the most they are cheap and good fun to play especially with the animosity rule :D

I've got a gallery where I have all of my Tyranid paints/conversions posted. Here's my favorite, Bonesaw, the Hive Tyrant I converted myself.

I'm starting a Captain Planet-flavor Eldar army once I have financial security.

Plague Marines and Bretonnians. My archer squads are feared throughout the land. They slaughter far more than my knights ever do. As do my knights horses strangely enough. I'm a big fan of Blood Bowl too.

I despise the painting part, but putting them together and modding them with Green Stuff can be pretty fun.

I used to collect Wood Elves until money got tight. Been looking for more people to play with ever since. Love that game.

I had the same thing going with my High Elf Cavalry, while the knights only slew one or two, the steeds always got lucky and slew at least twice as many.

I collect Tau at the moment, when I can. It would appear that money is crucial to owning these little pieces of plastic and metal. I really enjoy the painting aspect of the craft, it just adds a sense of... pride, I'd say, to your work. Just slapping the bits together and giving them one or two coats of some colour, it just doesn't give me the same sense of accomplishment as taking the time to paint all the pieces and put them together.
I'd like to start branching off into another army after I finish building up my Tau. There's a game shop that opened up near my house back in June, so I plan to take full advantage of that. :p

/me has collected Chaos in fantasy for 6 years(have a 6.5kpt. Army assembled and painted, still working on my chaos drago...) and tyranid in 40k for about a year(exactl 3kpt.)

by far i like battling the best. The fact that regardless of your army, positioning, and landscape it'll all come down to strategy and blind luck.

you can set up your army to own in one category, but you can and will still get owned on 3 other lvls...

I also used to have a running campaign goin with 5 other players , we would fight one set of battles a week, and depending on whether you won or not, you would get favor/money/whatever with which to "hire" new troops. myself as chaos was trying to invade the empire, and every other race had a different motive.. it was quite fun.

I find making terrain super fun. Beware Fort Black, it reveals the secrets of mens' souls.

Telephalsion 08-23-2007 04:11 PM

I really should make some terrain, then I could fulfill my life-long dream of owning a castle with guards positioned on the battlements, albeit a small, model castle, with small model guards, but still.

Just bought another bolt-thrower today, glee!
