Metal Gear Solid 4 boss unit revealed

Behold!

Apparently they're called Beauty and the Beast. The four of them are Laughing Octopus, Crying Wolf, Raging Raven, and Screaming Mantis.

As if I needed to be even more pumped for this game. It really sucks that I don't have a PS3.

I suppose these aren't the only bosses for the game, though. I like the fact that they are mixing the themes of the bosses from MGS 1 and 3 (animals and emotions respectively). 2's were dumb, if you ask me.

Laughing Octopus? Laughing Octopus looks very... female. I suppose that, since we never saw the real body of Decoy, it could be plausible.

I have no idea why Mantis suddenly started to scream though.

Somehow, I don't think these characters are the same ones from MGS1. It seems more like an homage. And the dude who was talking in the trailer said that they were more like victims than soldiers, so I think they're new characters.

Plus, I think they're all women.

im sorry to say but to me they didnt give that feeling of " oh fuck this is going to get hard" like i had it with vamp in msg 2, or the old sniper from msg 3. so im just going to wait for the game. btw isnt it coming out for the wii?

So... um... it might've already been said, but this applies to MGS4, as well:

And here's what Wiki has to say on the subject.

My guess is, like Metal Gear Solid 3, each enemy has found an emotion to carry into battle with them - only, as was said in the video, the emotion overwhelms them as a kind of severe shell shock. Laughing Octopus is probably going to be the one enjoying the carnage and giggling insanely, Crying Wolf is going to be kinda like The Sorrow, and be all angsty, Raging Raven is going to be the POed hardened Fortune, and Screaming Mantis is going to be the clinically insane, get the f*** out of his way, villain.

And hey, hey, hey - check it out! It's Raiden versus Vamp... again.

I noticed the one with the puppets...wasn't there some psychic person with puppets from Metal Gear Acid? Oh well. They're all crazy, and they're all going to die. Consider it! Revolver Ocelot? Liquid? The Boss? Vamp? Raiden (nude!)? Snake Himself for the most part? The least amount of body armor and physical tech you have, the more superior and long lived you are compared to everyone who actually wears the stuff!

I think it's a series staple that if you're heavily attached to some sort of heavy metal or technology, you're going to die in an explosion, which does sort of point to Snake and Raiden's death in this one, what with Snake's full camo-suit and electronic eye, and Raiden's cyborg-ness.

I do like how they're making these unnatural mecha beasts even more monstrous by giving them animalistic noises, especially the wolf howl. That would certainly drain my courage in a gunfight if the metal beast my weapon doesn't harm in the slightest were to suddenly howl, cementing the fact that it's going to tear up my ass.

I dunno, I think the Metal Gear Geckos are looking far, far cooler. All of these guys felt sort of like they'd been done before.

Ugainius 08-23-2007 03:34 PM

Well, despite looking pretty badass, They are following the MGS rule that the bad guys A-Team must recieve a stupider sounding name which each version.

On a group and individual level
