Bush vs Kerry: It's on!
Do you think Kerry's newfound support from Edwards is enough to push him over the edge? Does Bush still have enough potential to pull through?
Plus, I just found this on another site while browsing through Drudge. I don't know if I agree this will lead to an easy win, but it's a pretty interesting read. |
I didn't read the link at all, but I don't think there's any way that John Kerry could win this election. I really hope he does, and I would be overjoyed to see Bush out of office, but I really don't think there's much of a chance for him to win.
That's too bad. :( |
It's weird, because everyone on this site whom I've talked to have denounced Bush and want him out of office. Yet, they also say his chances of losing are slim-and-none and "slim" left town. I'm just surprised I haven't seen any more Bush supporters on this site if enough people out there still support him for him to win.

Kerry's a flake whos supported AND denounced every action that’s been taken by bush, the senate, and himself. and he best defense against people who point that out is "how dare you question my patriotism!"
Since Kerry hasn’t taken a stand on the issues.. er.. ever, it'll be hard for him to run on issues with out taking serious damage form the flak of people who are going to point out that he didn’t support his own position at one time or another. It also doesn’t help that he now takes position against what he really believes (because, despite politically calculated flip flops, he does believe SOMETHING.) He seems to be a confused senator, if anything. And he's not a smooth enough politician to wiggle out of his flip flops. If you stack that up against Bush, who doesn't change direction despite heaps of criticism, and actually goes forward with his plans, and has a sense of vision for the future, i don't see how the confused senator can match up in the long run. Sure there are a bunch of people who don’t like the direction bush wants to go, and would vote on anything to stop us from getting there... and Kerry will get all those votes. But I don't see Kerry actually inspiring a whole lot of people to him. He doesn’t even have the type of inspired support Dean had. all he's got is "electability". And a platform that relies solely on trumping the other side can't get you too far. Besides "winning" what does Kerry want to DO? no one knows! so far, Kerry hasn't really had a platform. And until he can figure out who he is, i don’t see him coming out on top. |
Kerry is doing good now, but when Bush starts his multi milion dollar attack ad campaign all the stupid people are gonna hate Kerry.
And the phone calls. caller-This is not a solicitation, we would just like to ask you a few questions. victim-okay caller-Would you still vote for (opponent) if he raped a black woman and got her pregnant? ^that is an example of what the Bush admin did during the primaries last year against their own party Kerry doesn't have a chance. |
That is a reason why I think that if Edwards were to win the democratic nominee, he would have a shot at beating Bush.
Not to mention a president who doesn't look like a sad horse would be cool too... :p |
I always used to get those solicitations. So far I've recieved calls from Barbara Bush, Bob Dole, Hillary Clinton, and a few others I can't recall right now. I'm a pretty popular guy :D

See, this is why Dean should have won.
I don't want to vote for either candidate now. |
'Shame really. Dean's done and through, and now he's starting to win things.
I think Kerry's support will ultimately depend on who the vice president is. If it's Dean, Kucinich, Sharpton, or Edwards, that'll help. However, his comment "I'm running alone. I haven't any ideas for the vice presidential candidate," really sounds like a polite way of declining all the other democrats that ran in the primaries (when he was asked if he'd run with any of them for VP.) So, y'know, if the VP candidate is a nutbag like Lieberman or Hillary, Kerry won't stand a chance in hell for winning. If it's someone good, it'll help him get votes from those undecided about him. I have the same concerns as Zeth about the importance he could actually play in the White House. He proposes no major reforms, just minor carpon-copy-Democrat tweaking. The only thing to look forward to is better judicial nominations and the removal of all of the Orwellian legislature that the senate allows. In full honesty, I'd prefer if the Democrats retake a majority in Congress rather than ousting Bush, 'cause then they can just barricade anything he tries to do for the rest of his term, and a better candidate can run in '08. |
...Hmm. This is interesting to know. For now I've been supporting voting for Kerry simply because I see him as the lesser of two evils. However, knowing that he doesn't stand firm on anything makes me worrisome.
I've been trying to study the Dem's stances on media consolidation, the RIAA, and similar issues, which I am most concerned about. I haven't been able to find anything on Bush's agenda, but from what I read, Kerry made a noncommital but cutting statement about the RIAA's actions. Kunich wanted to kick some fat shark ass from what I saw. I rated first with Kunich in a political test and his stances were the closest to mine. However, well... Kunich's out. Kerry's going to win it all, I'm sure of it. He ranked higher on a test than Bush did (dead last, har ha). This is going to be a very sucky rock and a hard place. If we stick with Bush, we'll most likely get a strong push for space programs again (which I am for), but his re-election alone will probably make us even more hated. (If you haven't guessed I'm real sensitive to anti-national prejudice...) It's possible he'd play like Howard Dean and go on a crusade against other "rogue nations." Now, I did support the Iraq war because I wanted to see Saddam's fat ass out of the chair. The fucker's done so much to his own people (SCUD sandwiches for the Kurds, anyone?) that I've been sick of and I'm glad he, his regime, and his successors are out for good. ... However, the country is currently in turmoil as terrorists and partisans try to put the country back under their thumb, its people hate us for stepping in and an American in Iraq will probably be treated to the same amount of hatred (and danger) by the locals as an American in South Korea, our allies and the people of such hate us (and enjoy hating us) because we didn't listen to them and many Americans lashed out at France and the French for not supporting the action, our military is starting to feel the stretch from putting its resources towards protecting Iraq and its people from the chaos, and... oh yeah, people are still dying. Bush would have to be fucking out of his mind to make another military move, to say the least. Sure, I dislike what Kim Jong Il and the DPRK do to their people, not to mention their tactics of playing chicken with the U.S government and working on nukes, but steamrolling them is going to cause even worse problems than Iraq. Especially since South Koreans not only hate us, but are trying to reconcile (or at least get on friendlier terms) with the DPRK... Oh, and there's other things I've frowned on too. In general I don't really like Bush, but he was better than Gore, and i still feel that way even after all that's happened. But... I don't know if he's better than Kerry. |
