Unloved Fighting Game Characters
So, when someone talks about a fighter, like say Street Fighter, characters like Ryu, ken, Chun Li, Guile and all them come to mind pretty fast, but what about the less loved? Like Sagat, hes an uber badass, and the boss of SF1, but he gets next to no buzz, or in King of Fighters, everyones alwasy talking about K, Iori, Terry, Kyo and all them, but what about my maine man Ryuji. This is where we talk about awesome fighter characters who do not get talked about enough.

Voldo in Soul Calibur is actually surprisingly good. He justs looks and acts like such a freak no one wants to admit that they use him.

Skullomania from SF: EX plus a
I rocked hard with his acrobatic moves and being able to do some crazy outlandish assaults on the enemy. Always kept them guessing. |
I almost never hear anyone talk about how much Guy kicks ass in Street Fighter Alpha 2 and 3, for which the only explanation can be that no one ever plays Guy. But man does he kick ass. He's quick, he can wall-jump and he packs quite a punch. His major drawback is not having any missile attacks, but you can get close to an enemy, hit him a few times and jump away again, which is an acceptable substitute.
My favourite tactic was always chaining two of his special moves together such that he moves around the screen in a sort-of figure 8 shape, trapping his enemy in the middle and doing damage every time he goes past. I can't say which attacks the were, exactly, but it always worked very well (then considering the way we used to play Street Fighter - inebriated - there's probably a very easy counter). So yeah, Guy. Karin too, from what I've seen, but I haven't played 3 as much. |
This probably is a bit premedited, but Pokémon Trainer in Super Smash Bros. Brawl gains almost no love in the internet in general, which is quite a shame considering he seems like he will become a very unique character.
Super Smash Bros. Melee: Mr. Game & Watch. Simply awesome, yet so underrated. |
No shit Meister, Guy is one of my most played, next to Sagat and Bruce Lee.

All Zangief all the time.
Street Fighter vs Marvel- double Zangief ( you need to select one character just when the music changes to get two of the same character) is the rockingest team in town. |
Panda from Tekken 5: Dark Ressurection - nothing like a 'Rave-Partying Disco Bear' to kick your ass with!

Actually, wrestler characters in general get a bad rap.
I'm particularly nasty with King, Hugo, Alex, Zangief and Wolf. |
Wow, man, you wanna see sagat? Go to a super turbo tournament like at evo where they're using anniversary addition and you will see old sagat out the arse. And a lot of weeping hondas, along with everyone else.
I'd say Dan needs more love but doesn't everyone love Dan? Edit: About zangief, he's good in ST, just not popular. Hugo though? You don't see many hugos for the same reason you don't see many twelves. They suck hideously. I saw this one hugo though, did walk up 720's and shit which was pretty cool but still if you're not playing ken, chun or yun and hit confirming supers then just what are you doing playing third strike? Also, I just noticed my post totally alienates casual fighter players. Oops. To be fair, I gave them more love than Sammy ever has. |
