Barry

Okay, so there's the Light Warriors.
The "Real" ones, that is. We don't know all that much about them, except that there's one of them named Barry who is generally responsible for their many, many misfortunes (rightfully blamed or otherwise).

It's kind of odd that one of the legendary warriors of, uh, legend is the sole source of the complete failure of the team to go on with their quest of defeating Chaos. But that's just how things turned out, eh?

Perhaps. Or, perhaps not!
Earlier, I was looking through some of the earlier comics, for no particular reason. I found some amazing, shocking, and incredible all at once here.

Take a look on the wall, first panel. If you didn't bother to look, i'll tell you what's there.
A poster, on the wall. It reads as follows:
BARRY'S
CORRESPONDENCE
SCHOOL OF
ARCH-VILLAINY
blah blahdy blah yadda yadda and so on and such like..

There's a Barry running a school that trains Arch-Villains! Might this Barry and Barry of the Light Warriors be...one and the same? Perhaps this Barry infiltrated the Light Warriors with the intention of skewing their purpose and keeping them from defeating his master, Chaos! (Evil is mostly middlemanagent, remember.) Or, he might have slain the true Light Warrior and taken his place, with nefarious disguises and such keeping him undercover.

Of course my only single piece of evidence is this perhaps totally coincidental name link between a Light Warrior and a certificate on Garland's wall which may even be forged.

Discuss!

Anybody who trained Garland to be a villain can't be all that bad.

I think Brian has said once that he just chooses Barry for whenever he has to think of a non-sensical name to put into a joke. I have to dig the forum to find that piece of information, though.

Sorta like when Red Mage was talking about his hat two alternating times, once a "+3" and once a "+5."

Yeah the creator didn't notice, meh, worse has happened.

It was also once a knifehat +2 with +2 in knives.

There's also the thing with the cultists. Reference here: http://www.nuklearpower.com/daily.php?date=050310 .

First off, it looked to me at the time like they were being set up as the same race as Black Mage, but in here ( http://www.nuklearpower.com/daily.php?date=060914 ), and the comic before it, it's made abundantly clear that their heads are, in fact, squid-god spawn.

I don't know if most people even noticed with the time lag between them.

There's no contradiction in the cultists' origins. Fighter only thinks they're wearing masks.

Didn't give him a Stam bonus one time too?

Seriously his hat is the ultimate D&D item.

Nuts, that means we STILL don't know what BM is! :gonk:

I still think he's a tonberry of some sort.

...

Not really, but it makes a strange amount of sense. XD

Lord_Amesius 09-05-2007 03:44 PM

Tonberry? Nah, he's a Moomba.
