Do they not realize that the rabid fanbase that speculated a 2d Metroid game returning would buy every damn copy if it were made? Grah.

I'm gonna laugh when it gets announced next week and they all be like "Well.. we said WE weren't making it... we also said no 2D Metroid... you all fail!"

And thats when Reggie smashes through the nearest wall, holds you down and beats you senselessly for ever doubting in them!

Nintendo isn't making a 2D Metroid because it is too busy developing a 3D Kid Icarus for the Wii.

At least that's what I hope for...

....this means we have about....3-4 more years to wait for the next 2D Metroid. Because when Nintendo makes R&D1 sit on their ass not making the next one, that means they're usually making them work on other projects. Then, they let up and 'allow' them to work on the next Metroid WAY down the line when everyone just totally forgets about Metroid finally and everyone has lost all hope that it will ever come back. And then, suddenly, oh snap, WE'RE REVIVING METROID!

.....thanks Nintendo.... Now the 2D games are going to once again generate moderate sales and pave the way for generous fan mayhem and modest reviews. America will have to totally get back into it again with Media and hype and Japan will totally lose the little chance it had of becoming popular with all the hype it has right now. We'll enjoy it, but the series will always remain the 'fourth teir' of your lovely company because you always do this shit....

Who cares about Metroid? I want my Contra back.

In one way this is a relief because I won't have to buy a DS for a while (I think).

But still: God DAMMIT! I've wanted to know what happens after Fusion since... well, after I finished Fusion. Seriously, the Federation can't have just ONE Metroid cloning facility if they're serious about the damn things. Look at the Pirates, they were cloning Metroids EVERYWHERE when they had them.

Well, maybe it's just me, but the story actually fascinates me... Not to mention the possibilities of a Super Metroid Remake.

Apparently it's not in development anymore? Seems unusual. Anyway, I don't think that Nintendo isn't going to let the 2D metroid games die. Not after Fusion.
