I wouldn't have one, as I can't abide shonen fight anime.

Seeing as I've only seen the English dubs on Adult Swim, i can't say I have a grasp on what powers exist. Can I make one up?

Ok, let me think... I'm not going to make up some super awesome powers or something. If I was a soul reaper, I'd probably be one of the lower ranked ones who just barely is able to ask its name. it would probably be something Japanese, as is the trend in the show. I like to think I'd be on Squad 11 (mostly because Kenpachi is awesome), so it would reflect the blunt force approach those guys seem to have.

I got it.

So I take out my sword, call out its crazy Japanese name, and it becomes a hammer. A big, two-handed one. And its on fire. And that's it.

Simple, moderately destructive, lights things on fire. I already like it more than half of the crazy-ass things on that show.

I'd like my magical sword to just turn into Bruce Lee. And then I can just fuck off somewhere and have a nap while Bruce Lee beats the tar out of everybody.

And for a bankai, an intercontinental ballistic missile with multiple nuclear warheads.

It's no Air Gear.

The power of plot is the ultimate power, so I'd have my zanpakuto power make my glasses shiny, and for a bankai I'd make my sword sing an ominous latin chorus/some sweeping operatic theme/super creepy low techno while dramatic wind swept my shinigami uniform. That way I'd ensure only the protagonist could kill me and I'd survive at least til the end of the arc, if not the whole series.

Insert Vizards, then more training, then Arrancar, and even MORE training, and who wants to bet the next wave is a bunch of Quincy/Bount/Hollow/Shinigami/Orihime-timepowered super ninja warriors that can beat up Ichigo with their middle finger.

But for reals, I'd probably steal that old geezer's sword. If anyone's going to have devastatingly powerful fire attacks, It's going to be ME. Not some grandpa.
