Final Fantasy VII: Crisis Core
 

Yes! It's out!! Just bought it last night!
Not entirely what I expected, but it's still a fun game to play. The battle system is wierd at first (I find myself reminiscing about playing slots); but when you learn sequences and have a good eye, you'll manage.

When I'm finished with the game, I'll post a overview of it. However, here's where the game stands right now:
Midgar has been built as the "symbol" of ShinRa's greatest achievement - Mako Energy. To safegaurd their security and interests, ShinRa has created a program of warriors with enhanced combat ability called SOLDIER. Zack is trying to be a first class SOLDIER with the help of the Buster Sword's TRUE owner - Angeal. One of the other two first class SOLDIERs - Genesis has disappeared in WuTai and Sephiroth with Angeal are dispatched with Zack assisting and learning from the best.

So far, random battles here and there, but the game is pretty good to me on the PSP.

See? That's why I stopped caring for Final Fantasy in general. However, I'm kind of intrigued by the reviews that have come out. I hope yours will get done as well. Especially if you get some of that hot Cloud on Zack on Sephiroth on GenesisGackt action in youtube.

Something that I do not understand, though. How the fuck does the battle system work?

Is there any sort of extras or online features?

Mommy mommy! Square-Enix is beating that dead horse!

Square continues to disappoint me. It's like they have lost all imagination or the nerve to create a new story, so their business plan for the past half a decade has been to leech off the success of past ventures. On the other hand, people will eat it up regardless and continue the cycle. I guess it shouldn't annoy me. I'd beat a dead horse too if someone paid me enough.

...which is yet another reason why I continue to be amazed that the first KH game was actually good.

You go from having very imaginative names in Final Fantasy XII that actually make the world more believable to some lame weather effects and esoteric words that sound really cool in japanese, but are nothing more than english words that are obviously marketed to the hip generation. Which is the reason why I abhor Final Fantasy XIII. Its main character is called Lightning, a girl who suffers amnesia and is trapped in the city of Cocoon, yet somehow she is vital to the destiny of the planet.

Oh, and the summons now transform into bikes and everybody wears a bazillion zippers and belts, even for holding things that can sustain themselves.

Yeah, I stopped caring when they changed Aeris to Aerith. I mean come the fuck on.

It's like they're the Japanese Marvel Comics in the 1990s.

I haven't found artwork on FFXIII, but be sure that it will be similar or worse.

Wow, that's pretty bad.

I guess they do carry like, items and shit, though, so it's at least semi-justifiable.

But yeah I keep waiting for Square to go "What the fuck, we're acting crazy" and then just like, stop acting crazy. But that's been 11 years now and they're still at it, so I'm not exactly holding my breath over it.
