what do you think?

ok, here's the thing. I like, anime...a lot. I spend about 50-80% percent of my time on the internet on youtube watching anime, i know most theme songs by heart (which i've been known to spontaniously burst out into, and they play constantly in my head), i sometimes listen to songs over and over, and if im not on youtube, i'm on wikipedia looking up stuff about anime or japan. Now, do you think this is un-healthy, or do you think its ok to have something your passionate about?

some of these words are wrong, but realize that I wrote this from memory, after watching this show almost ten years ago. Yeah, you can say I used to be a big fan of anime, heh. But after living in Japan for three years I've learned some moderation. It's an interesting place with an interesting culture, but by no means the pinnacle of humanity or any such thing.

that's my two cents!

(bonus points if you can tell me the anime that song goes to, and what words I scewed up!)

I think it is not unhealthy as long as you keep up with other interests and schoolwork, as well as having a non-sedentary life. I mean, we post in forums for Christ's sake. If that's not evidence of having too much free time then I don't know what the hell I'm doing here.

I think it is pretty unhealthy.

Funka Genocide 09-13-2007 11:44 PM

heh, I know that one!

Evangelion! I sung it to a crowd of Japanese in a karaoke bar in Shinjuku with my friend Midori like, two years ago. I don't even speak Japanese either! Mua ha ha!

it's tenchi no thesis actually too, thesis is actually being used as an english word. "Thesis of a cruel angel" is the title, translated.

Yeah I'd call that unhealthy.

Honestly if you spend that much of your free time doing any one specific thing it's probably not that good for you. Where that something is passively watching images on a screen, then even more so.

Of course like UsedtobeNekotillhechangedhisnametosomethingstupid said we're all fuckin' people who sit around posting on internet forums so I'm hardly in a position to judge anyone, I'm just saying for your own sake, try and develop more of a range of interests, including those that involve getting out and about a bit.

heh, I always like Fifth's advice, because as scathing and to the core as it is, it's always softened by the glaring fact that I've seen him logged into this very forum almost continually for like, three years or something.

hahaha

but seriously.

My initial post was something like this I guess, and while I never used up quite so much of my time with any one interest as you claim to, I can see how it could become something of an obsession. All I can say is that there are definitely more things out there. Don't stop watching and appreciating anime, but think of all the other aspects of life you could be missing out on.

like boobs!

(even if you're a girl, they're still awesome!)

Basically my attitude towards these things is "if you're making the same decisions I have there's something the fuck wrong with you".

Well, that one couldn't fit without somehow messing around with the fabrics of the forum, so I had to choose something that still retained my former identity while being sexier and more mysterious than fiend in the fifth (and therefore loser) place.

But let's put it this way: too much of anything is bad. You should really try to do some other things and not end up like these guys.

I think there's a borderline to know how fucked up you are. The moment you start dancing the Haruhi dance by memory is when you know you're screwed. Also, Hamtaro hentai. That's just... augh!
