Snow
I remember reading on the news page some time ago that Brian had only seen snow twice in his life and it scared him every time he saw it. It snowed 6 inches here today and we only got a 2 hour delay. That's how tolerant of it our community has become. It takes a good 2 inches/hour to get us anywhere near a school closing. It's ridiculous. I almost got run off the road by a guy who slid across the double yellow.
I like snow, even though it is spontaneously freezing water. Do you really hate it, Brian? Why? I mean besides the lock-your-brakes-up-and-kill-you reason. |
It's like that here in ND. You need at least ten good inches of snow in twelve hours or less, if not more snow and less time. Back in '97 we had 8 blizzards and so many snow days that now we are only allowed two snow days a year.

It always makes me laugh when southern cities (like just north of the canadian border southern) get a big dump of snow and it shuts the whole place down. We usually get several feet of snow and it stays all winter.

I was so mad yesterday. In the morning... I could literally go outside without a coat on.... then by that night, it was a snow storm.... grrr.... I thought spring was almost here! (snow is nice, but after a long winter, you just want it to go away.)
And I'll paraphrase from my favorite comedian (because the whole thing is too long and doesn't all make sense if you don't actuall HEAR it): "And don't ever let it snow in Texas. Oh, just shut the state down. I was in my kitchen and I heard that: Beep..... beep... beep, sound, and you know what that sound is, it's the weather warning.... it means your gonna die. So on comes Wally weather-man, 'An inch of snow is heading for your area. Steal food, horde gas. If you are an elderly american, you will not make it through this storm.' Up in the north, an inch and you guys are saying 'hang on, lemme get my golf ball...'." |

Anyway, I love snow, and here in the Seat of Sarcasm (located in North Carolina), school gets cancelled with 1.5 inches. |
Yeah, that's about right. I live in upstate New York(Red Hook) and we get a lot of snow in the winter, but we usually manage to slide our way to school in the morning.

It's hard to predict when we're going to get a cancellation or not here. They won't call a cancellation, even if the snow is physically keeping you from opening your front door, but once somebody gets in a wreck on the way to or from school, they will call a cancellation on about an inch of snow. ^^;; heh. (I was exaggerating a bit, but you get my point.) |
D'oh! I have both of their routines on cd's, gets me mixed up every now and then.
My school system is retarded, because they will wait as long as possible to issue delays/cancellations. 5 years ago, they issued a 2-hour delay at 7:10, when half the kids were already at school. |
Yeah, my cousin in N.C. got 1 foot and it shut school down for a week! Damn plows
