Bands that get more flak than they deserve

Does anyone ever sit and think, "Man, people get on to [insert band here] way too much" ? I've been kind of doing that a lot.

Like, I remember Linkin Park's first CD, where either you were some kind of die-hard fan or you absolutely hated it (Whether it be because you hate anything that has to do with rap or screaming). It's gone on ever since they became any bit popular, and people just don't even seem to give any of their songs a chance anymore.

And I can get why someone would be critical of the first CD (CRAAAAAAAAAWLING), even if there are better songs (I don't care what anyone says, In The End is an awesome song).

Just look at, oh, their second CD, and you see some other songs that are way different from this "Rap and Screaming" category. It's a giant remix CD that completely tones down on the screaming (Linkin Park itself has stated how they don't like the screaming songs as much as the others...), or the third CD, Meteora, with a bunch of better songs, including one of my just plain favorites Breaking the Habit (Even if you hate the song, the video alone is awesome enough!).

I could go on, but this post is more long-winded than I expected.

So yeah, post on music and junk that you think gets too much bad credit.

Oh, and, lighten the heck off of Nickelback. I mean, come on, a lot of their songs are pretty damn catchy and you know it, don't even lie. Even if cheesey or re-hased.

Well when Linkin Park do a tour advertising as "The Greatest Band on Earth" they are kind of asking for it.
I kid you not. That's how thier tour here in a few months is being advertised.
Thus I feel perfectely justified in mocking them hard.

Kind of like how ever auto store has the best tires on earth and how every pizza company has the best pizza on earth?

=D

I'm not exactly big into music or particular bands, but I like a lot of the new(er?) Linkin Park songs. I also like most Everlast songs I hear. I don't know if they get crapped on a lot but since I like them I'm going to assume that they do.

Dude we should totally start ripping on the Ringling Brothers, they're just asking for it with that greatest show on earth thing. To the torches my fellow villages lets burn that gypsy abomination to the ground!

But yeah I'm totally sick of hearing people complain about these bands. We get it you don't like their music. That's totally within your rights. Heck even I don't like a lot of it. But what I really don't like is being blasted with your hatred every time their name is even mentioned. I mean is it that hard to just say "No I don't like that band" rather than "That band is crap because of this and this and your crap because you listen to even one of their songs"?

Green Day, and not the new "Oh, look, they've grown up a lot and write songs with substance about timely global events" American Idiot Green Day (which is great, but beside the point). I mean, like, I thought Insomniac was a pretty great album, despite the fact that everyone else seemed to hate it because "it wasn't really stylistically any different from Dookie". I don't necessarily see why it had to be.

Huh?

I was just about to come in and mention newer Greenday, which I hear bashed a lot but like. But older Greenday gets bashed where you are? Or did I misread your post?

Yeah, when I like a band, I like the way they are. If they put out a new CD that's more or less the same style than the old one that was good, I squeal in joy. Bands change for the worse (in my opinion) all too much as they get more CDs out.

I'm looking at you, 3 Doors Down!

It may have been more of a circa 1995 sort of thing. Honestly, every new Green Day album since Dookie gets the shit bashed out of it until the next one comes out, at which point the previous becomes a classic work of art.

American Idiot seemed to be the first album where people actually seemed to just like it right off the bat, from what I've seen.

I know a guy who hates Green Day because he's convinced they sold out to the idea that America isn't totally awesome.

Whatever man.

And whoever says any song on guitar hero is overplayed, whatever man to you too. Less Talk More Rokk is really fun, and so is Sweet Child of Mine.

I guess I don't hear too much bashing of music around here though, unless it's just that I agree with most of it so I don't notice it.
