I'm pretty sure you've heard about Square-Enix before. You see, they are this videogame company that used to make awesome games but somehow discovered the wonders of capitalism and sequelitis. No matter what your point of view is (they rock!! vs they suck!!), I think we all have something important to say about the current state of the company.

So, what's the purpose of this thread? Why, my good fella, isn't it obvious?! Since having a bajillion hojillion threads about the weekly new Final Fantasy announcement would become chaotic after a while, wouldn't it be easier to concentrate all of our passion (be it hatred or love) for Square-Enix in just one place?

I think this makes perfect sense and should be stickified. Seriously, 'tis a philanthropic cause here.

I think the thing I dislike most about Square is it’s fans. They're loud and numerous, they never agree and there's just no pleasing them.

Birth by Sleep has awesome graphics.

Kingdom Hearts Birth By Sleep

- Developed by the KH Re:CoM (PS2) team at the Osaka branch of S-E.
- 3 scenarios, 3 main characters, play in any order
- Battle system is a mix of KH CoM (deck of abilities/skills) and KH's normal controls
- The random elements and the timing based gameplay is Nomura's evolution of what he used in CoM and IAWW


Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days

- Developed by h.a.n.d., the guys that made Chocobo DS.
- Multiplayer gameplay is mission based, and your friends can play as any of the XIII Org members.
- Scenario is compared to Crisis Core, in that most people will know how it ends, but not how it will flow.

Kingdom Hearts: Coded

- Developed by the Before Crisis FFVII team.
- Disney worlds will be available as individual downloads.
- The setting involves Sora's memories being accessed, possibly through a computer. It is compared to CoM's scenario in that sense.
- Graphics are 2D sprites on 3D backgrounds to allow both high spec and low spec phones to be support.
- Planned to be released internationally, hence the focus on compatibility.[/

Kingdom hearts is really addicting, seriously in all its rediculosity you have to give them credit in discovering that disney and FF make beautiful music together.

Square Enix is not the greatest gaming company around, only the richest.(I think)

What frustrates me is the people who say that someone or something has gone 'mainstream' and decide that it has lost all its prior ingenuity. That's called stereotyping. Not every person that makes it big becomes Bam Margera, not every company that releases a hit becomes Bungie.

Oh well, that's my piece.

Square-enix only made so many games and stuff based on FF7 because of all the goddamn FF7 fans who act like it was the best game ever. That is all I have to say.

Depending on how you define things, that slot belongs to either Microsoft (if you include the non-gaming stuff, they win by miles) or Nintendo (second highest market capitalization of any Japanese corporation, which isn't necessarily the same thing as richest but it's closely related afaik.)

Okay seriously what is this shit with Kingdom Hearts? Are they changing people's fucking names again and calling it plot? God dammit Squaresoft, you know what I told you about changing people's fucking names and calling it plot.

Honestly, all I want is FFTA2, DQM: Joker, and DQ9.

I'll also take the DQ4 and DQ5 remakes if they make it to the states, but other than that... nothing really popping out at me.

(I would also like FFT:LW on the PSP, but I do not own a PSP and have no plans to get one right now... unless Disgaea: Afternoon of Darkness comes to America, then I might cave in.)

Hear hear. All I'm holding out for is all that beautiful stuff coming out from the Enix side. I mean, Square is doing a ton of sequels, prequels, remakes and original games yes. Yet from the Enix side, they seem to be focusing all their energy on just making a few well done remakes (Dragon Quest IV-VI on DS) and a select few new games.

And every single one of their games, while taking a ton of time and seemingly limited to Dragon Quest titles for the time being (except for (Jeanne d'Arc on the PSP), all look well planned out for making tons of money and damn good production-wise.

They need to make more SRPGs.

Who do I have to do sexual favors for to get a Dragon Quest Tactics?

I would pimp that game for all eternity. (As long as they did it right.)

Also, I am really glad that they have kept the Dragon Quest feel in all the games since the merger. (IE Left it the fuck alone.)

Dragon Quest has only benefited from Square so far.
