See. Don't the in game characters for this game look like they are upgraded versions of those characters from the 'tech demo' Square did back with the FFVI characters on the N64? But now they're making a whole DS game around them.
In theory this isn't a problem and it could work fine. Even be enjoyable to see them return to a more 'retro' design and 'lesser' graphical state. But...they're trying to pair them up with some of the best FMV sequences I've ever seen, in-game voices and HEAVY dramatic scenes that seem to be even more overplayed than the original game. All with these in-game models that make me recall FFVII.
Still, I'm not really complaining because I'm all 'OMG RUINING FFIV!' I was never a huge fan on the game in the first place. I'm worried because of the fact that I was really anticipating a DS remake of FFV and VI. And now...if FFV and more importantly VI is going to end up looking like this.... I just don't really see a point. I'm more inclined to believe an actual console is needed to fully realize everything FFVI needs in a remake. FFV may be able to be remade ok on a handheld (although I still don't think it should be like this), but FFVI needs a console if Square is showing us that this is how far the DS can go with 3D modeling and all that.
They probably should have done all this on the PS2 if they were going to go all 3D modeling and stuff with FFIV and all...
