Batman Beyond

I heard they're making a batman beyond movie, is that true?

MP37a 03-09-2004 11:06 PM

Yeah I think I heard about that too. I think it's straight to video though.

Really? Do you know when? Do they have a site?

Bob The Mercenary 03-11-2004 12:11 AM

Better not be like that Mask of the Phantasm crap.

MP37a 03-11-2004 07:36 PM

Oh wait I was thinking of something else my bad. Anyhow I assume you mean the live-action version of batman beyond. In one story I heard they were thinking of cancelling it in another I heard they were doing it. They were suppose to start filming in 2003 which of course didn't happen. So if they do make it it won't happen until after Batman 5 says Warner Bros. Batman 5, geez I really wonder if they can get any worse with the series. It went downhill after the second one. lol

They already made a batman beyond animated movie... THE RETURN OF THE JOKER. It was really really badass.
Batman 5?!?!? PLEASE MAKE IT STOP! Gootham needs to stop being the land of the rave!!

Mr. Wind-Up Bird 03-12-2004 11:04 AM

Every batman animated movie has been a high quality affair. Mask of the Phantasm was a great movie and so was Return of the Joker.

A batman beyond movie would be cool, but I'm not getting my hopes up.

Actually, Batman 5 - officially Batman Begins now - isn't shaping up too badly. They've gotten a decent director - Christopher Nolan of Memento fame - and an interesting pick for Batman: Christian Bale. Liam Neeson as Henri Ducard and Michael Caine as Alfred. Commissioner Gordon will be played by Gary Oldman. Ra's Al-Ghul will be the main villain, but I don't thing casting has been confirmed.

Anyway, the movie has stars, but what else is new? It isn't a direct sequel to the previous movies but instead a whole new start for Batman. Thus the Joker no longer killed Batman's parents and so on. Here are a couple quotes from Nolan that might give a picture of his vision of Batman:

Quote:

"The world of Batman is that of grounded reality," he says. Burton's and Schumacher's visions were idiosyncratic and unreal. Nolan says, "Ours will be a recognizable, contemporary reality against which an extraordinary heroic figure arises."
Quote:

"Few superheroes have the sense of purpose and destiny that Batman has. He is driven by an incredible sense of rage, sadness and grief because of the tragedy of his parents' murder at an early age. To me, Batman is the most interesting superhero because he doesn't have any superpowers. He is very human."
While it's way too early to tell, I think Batman Begins has real promise.

pfft... I still want em to make a batman beyond movie... that show kicked ass. I wish they hadn't canceled it

Nique 03-13-2004 02:32 AM

um...

uh, how about a link?

Anyway, if this is true. Then yay. And was I the only one who thought micheal keaton was a HORRIBLE batman? Not nearly angsty enough...

Priest4hire 03-13-2004 03:20 AM

Well, the quotes come from here. You can check out IGN Filmforce's page here. And there's a long discussion of the film at the Home Theater Forum, which was a source for much of my post. You can puruse it here.

I'll admit I'd really dig a Batman Beyond film. Perhaps if this one does well we'll get one.

Well of the Batman movies made, he actually was the best. Still a lousy choice, but better than Val Kilmer or George Clooney.

Yay for batman 5 if that's true. That series was getting too weird with what they were doing in it. But really they should make it a continuation after batman returns because that one was pretty good. They just need to pretend that the third and fourth one never existed. lol

hahahaha that makes me laugh. Ever heard of another movie that's going to come out soon The Punisher? I mean he doesn't have any powers, I read the book already and the only thing close to a power is the fafct that he survived the murder of his family.

As for Batman Beyond it was ok, but the fact was it just didn't seem right to batman veterans. I mean the suit did everything. Hell if Bruce Wayne ran around in a speedo with his belt he could still kick ass.

Hay dooders. For those mouring the loss of Batman Beyond check out The Batman
