Scantily Clad ~ The Great Debate
As a manager at Mcdonalds I see all sorts of people come in and go out, including applicants and customers(Not to mention fellow co-workers).
I'm not afraid to point at a female co-worker who's off duty and go "God damn put some clothes on for once in your life". Well..no, I don't say that. That'd be rude and I try not to be rude...I wouldn't mind saying it sometimes, though. However, I'll give you one example of a customer who I felt was "scantily clad". She came in wearing a small piece of clothing that wrapped about her torso, baring her shoulders, upper torso, and belly button. I'm not knowledgeable about what this type of clothing would be called, but I'm certain someone will soon enlighten me. She also was wearing short shorts that were exceedingly tight, no socks and sandals. Now my question therein is this: If you dress to the point that body parts are hanging out(nearly nipple visibility for above mentioned customer) then are you inviting others to view you freely? Or are you not supposed to look/avert your gaze? If you don't dress that way for that reason, then why(When it's 50 degrees out and cloudy) would you dress that way? What drives people to do it? And SHOULD they be dressing that way? Isn't it potentially too distractive? Or might it not cause problems involving young men who are still developing and can't quite control their hormones? Give unto me your thoughts, oh mighty community! |
I've nearly crashed my car due to situations much like the one you're describing. So women, please be careful, looks can kill!

I believe that when women (or men) dress in such ways that bare an excessive amount of skin that would otherwise be covered up, they are inviting looks from passersby, and lose the right to complain about being looked at. Now, in the same token, those viewing said scantily-clad individuals should only permit themselves a quick glance, perhaps something longer (five seconds maximum). Any longer I would consider rather inappropriate, unless you're paying.
As a side note, here in Ontario (and maybe even the rest of Canada, I'm not sure) it's legal for women to stroll around topless. And you thought mere revealing clothes was bad enough. |
Moved to General, cause it seems kind of general-ish.

If you want to see topless women, go to the Bahamas. I don't know why anyone would dress that away (when your nipples are about to pop out) cause... well, it's uncomfortable. Scanty clothing doesn't bother me so much as long as it FITS. Also, no socks or sandals? Wtf? |

Discussion - Circumspect deliberation on weighty matters of great importance General - casual conversation on topics of interest Off-topic - Silly fucking bullshit and image-macros. There's always a bit of blurring but that usually covers it, in my experience. |
I think he meant no socks, only sandals. As for the garment, that sounds like a tube top to me. Also, yeah, anyone who's dressing like that is inviting people to look at them, which is probably the exact reason they wear it. This isn't an excuse to start staring non-stop, but a glance is definitly okay.

I feel it necessary to point out, just for the record, that I am against scantily clad overweight men and women, while being pro scantily clad fit men and women.
