One other thing about SF:HD is that the soundtrack will be remixes as well as the original tunes. I believe if you listen closely in the footage from that interview you'll hear some of the new remixed songs.

You are all crazy!
Balrog needs to make a comeback! There isn't any other ugly mug that could take the place of the punching Piston Pounder! |
|
I loved Balrog just because kicking is for wusses.
He has one strategy! But it's awesome! |
I like 'Rog even more than I like 'Gief. But both pale before my love for shortening names down to a single syllable.
I don't know if I'd prefer Dudley or 'Rog for IV. Dudley's voice-over, design, and moveset are simply awesome. Granted, 'Rog hit the scene about seven years before Dud, so a more simplistic moveset is nothing you can really complain about. Three specials, after all, is about par for the course for SFII. Of course, that's not to say that 'Rog isn't just as good of a character. Mike Tyson look-alike, sure, but with great voice-acting (in CvS2, anyway), and some memorable win poses. "I got paid!" is just as good as Dudley's heli-butler tea service, IMO. In a perfect world, we'd get both Dud and 'Rog -- opposite ends of the boxing spectrum, and a clash of personalities that is just too good to pass up. Dudley, after all, represents an age of gentlemanly pugilism, where the fistic arts held great importance in the development of a strong character. Balrog, on the other hand, has no dignity! |
We need less boxers.

So Capoeira should get bigger?
Elena and her Dhalsim legs is pretty good even if they put her in as a nod to Tekken or something... |
Some new SF: HD news. David Sirlin talks about how they're rebalancing Super Turbo HD. Three button moves are now two button moves, Dragon Punch timing is more forgiving, 360 moves get alternate, easier motions, no tiger knee motions and mash moves take less button presses to use. That's not all though.

It's good that the game will be available in two formats -- "arcade-perfect" and "beginner-perfect."
While I understand the need of accessibility to acommodate the growing gamer demographic -- many of them too young or too green to jump right in and pay money for SF2 -- it's always a touchy subject with me. I enjoy being challenged. I like hard games. When the level of inherent accessibility goes up, the level of my satisfaction goes down. That said, for SF2 it's a good move. The difficulty, after all, really comes with whoever your human opponent is. Failing to do the moves when you need'em is an awful feeling, and hopefully with the 'remix' SF2 it'll happen less often. Of course, the only ones I ever had trouble with were the Tiger Knee motions. Ah well. Easier 360s could be good, too... Maybe I won't be the only Gief / Hawk player in the 'hood anymore. Probably still be the only Vega player, though. |
Seriously...
I try to master every person's special move at the least... How the HELL can you DO those 360s? In the history of SF, I have yet to do a spinning piledriver because I always do the jump... That's why my best is usually Ryu, Ken, Akuma, or Cammy (Yes, I play decent with speed characters. Just not the best except with basic chars.) |
