Password [Discussion/interest]

I've played this on other forums in a different way, which may or may not work here. On the other boards, there's an account with a password, and the current holder posts a hint at the account's password which the other members try logging into with their guesses. They post their failed attempts, so the person who posts the hints knows how to hint if another hint is needed.

If this method won't work here, we could also just do it the more conventional way, where a member posts hints, other people guess it, and when it's confirmed, it goes to who guessed it. I like the account method because then the account holder doesn't have to be online for the winner to win, and it can move just a bit faster. Also it feels more like hacking or something. :P

Also, the password must be all lowercase with no spaces, hyphens, or underscores. numbers are okay. Otherwise it gets too hard.

Thoughts?

Sounds good, but is there a time limit on hints or passwords? Sometimes sucky hints can be given that no one else comprehends. I won't point fingers, but it does happen.

I'd be willing to give it a shot.

Would there be a character limit on the password?

Zilla 10-18-2007 04:44 PM

time limit is generally a good thing, perhaps I should stay out of it so the new guy can give me the password every time it switches in case it gets too obscure and a time limit is needed.

As for the character limit, it's considerable, but common sense should prevail.

This sounds like an awesome game. Is this what would happen? You (Zilla) make an account, give it a password, and give us a hint, and then we'd all keep trying over and over to guess the password until one of us got it, and the one who got it would change the password and let everyone know the new hint?

Demetrius 10-20-2007 07:15 PM

That sounds about right. I think the account name needs to be something really awesome though. I'm thinking Awesome McAwesomeness.

I suggest Sydney Wilson.

Why would you consider that awesome?

Unfortunately, we can't name the account anything supremely awesome, since Tendronai is already taken.

...it has NOTHING to do with it being an alias used on Doctor Who to preserve the name of cast members, to protect plot twists. Nothing.
