Recognizing Voice Actors

We all know the feeling we get when we recognize a voice actor, especially if the series in question are entirely separate. Sometimes, when you listen to a foreign language for long enough, you develop an ear for this kind of thing; you figure out what sounds are actually part of the language, and what sounds are just the voice actor sounding like themselves.
Heck, just now I was watching Trigun and I heard Vash talk. He made this high-pitched sound that was supposed to make him sound like a wuss. Something in my mind clicked, and I said to myself, "Oh, hell no, it can't be HIM... can it?" Horribly curious, I checked the wiki entry for Vash, clicked on the name of his seiyū, and looked down the list for Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann.
And then I found it.
Vash is Leeron.
D:
But seriously, though. I'm sure moments of recognition like that have happened to other people before, so... anyone want to share anything similar?

I think the most shocking (and perplexing, until the two names clicked) recognition I had was when I recently watched an episode of Beast Wars, the old animated show. As it happens, the voice actor that did Cheetor is the (main?) voice actor for Goku from DBZ.

I sat there for a good 10 minutes trying to make the link.

thing I hate is when I hear the voice and cant place it. But some VAs have a good range and completely slip by.

Oh and the voice of Vash (english) also does the voice of Ichigo from bleach

Oh man, I love voice actors. One of my (lamer) hobbies include looking up everything a voice actor has ever done, and marveling.

Some interesting ones:

The guy (Jim Cummings) who voiced Razoul(from Aladdin), Minsc(from Baldur's Gate), and the singing voice for half of Scar's "Be Prepared" song also voices Winnie the Poo and Tigger.

Bloo (from Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends) and Basch (from Final Fantasy 12) share the same voice actor.

Reno from Advent Children, and Axel from Kingdom Hearts 2 share the same voice actor, for both Japanese and English voice overs.

Billy's Mom (from Grim adventures of Billy and Mandy), is the same voice actor who does Cinderella, and Avatar Kyoshi (from Avatar) who ALSO voices Samus Aran (her various noises she makes).

But yeah, I'm always hearing characters and going "is that _______?", although more for english VAs than Japanese ones.

Well, she doesn't really TALK. She just screams or grunts or whatever.

Yeah, that doesn't sound much better.

You speak of Quinton Flynn, who also doesn Raiden in the MGS series, which is probably his most notable role.

How about this:

The old version of Akira, the voice of Kineada? Leonardo from the 80s Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.

Dante from Devil May Cry - real badass right?
Allen Tax from Xenosaga - wussy little assitant to Shion

That's right. Same guy. BEGINNING THE BOGGLING!

I <3 Jennifer Hale in every single role she's in.

Johnny Yong Bosch: former Power Ranger, voice actor of a thousand roles, creator and member of a rock band, great guy, and airsoft William Tell.

He drips with sheer awesome. :D

Edit: That is to say, I'd recognize his voice anywhere and it will always be to the good.
