So, I just Beat Portal
Took me a total of 4 hours, 18 minutes. I was actually astounded it took me that long after having been through Prey, but some of those test chambers REALLY kept me going for a while. Especially numbers 17 and 18.
Also, I must say that, for reasons I do not fully understand, that musical ending ranks among the most disturbing things I've ever encountered in my video game career, and that is saying something. Let's see where it ranks: 1. Playing Doom III for the first time late at night, in the dark, during a thunderstorm, and being halfway asleep the first time you see the lost soul burn its way out of that woman's skull. Yeah. Nightmares. 2. Trying to guess the age of my character in Harvest Moon 64, then realizing that by the end of a year he'll be married and have a child. Yeah. Creepy. 3. The first I played Resident Evil and one of those zombies I thought was dead popped back up and charged me. 4. The song at the end of Portal Huh, I guess it made number 4. |
I am in the process of legally purchasing Portal from my fine local retailer. I've basically been spoiled on the whole thing, but I love the end song. It's really seriously addictive.
Johnathan Coulton for the win. Lets see where he ranks. 1. Crack 2. MMOs 3. Sex 4. Johnathan Coulton and his amazing songwriting skills of mad justice! Hm, I guess he made number 4. |
Portal is GotY at the moment for me. We'll see where it stands after Mass Effect.

We're BFF.
I was hanging out with GLaDOS - we meet for coffee and chit-chat every week - this morning, and I'm pretty sure she's warming up the neurotoxins for all the potential competition. She will win.

GlaDOS is one of the best antigonists I've seen in modern games...
And I love that song. And if you listen to the radios, it's the same song. And trivia time: the voice actress did the Combine Overwatch announcer you hear in HL2. |

Right next to "Portal takes place in an upside down floating sky castle." |
I hear a Weighted Companion Cube plushie is coming out in time for Chirstmas. I'll be all over that.

The song was funny if abit disturbing (not unlike a They Might Be Giants song) besides the song at the end of portal is nothing compared to those turrents. They have this innocent quality that makes me feel like 4 year old little girls are trying to kill me
