Beowulf
I just got back from seeing the movie. I felt it was sufficiently awesome. Brilliant actors, the best CGI i've ever seen, and a Dragon getting it's heart ripped out. What more could you ask for?
And a new Cloverfield trailer played before the movie. I swear, it couldn't have been better if the 10 dollars you spent included hookers and pudding. |
Actually...it could be better if the hookers and pudding came WITH the trailer. And yes, that was an amazing trailer. Me and all my friends pretty much orgasmed at the sight of it.
Also, Golden Dragon Vs dementoid. I think we all know who has the better genes! |
I went expecting utter crap, and I was disappointed. There was no utter crap! I really enjoyed the movie and the heroic story, despite my friends' insistence that I spent $8.50 to see a cartoon naked Angelina Jolie, that could've been a barbie doll.
|
So, i heard that there are naked boobiness of the likeness of Lady jolie in that movie...
hmmm... CGI boobies... Ok, anyway, i wasnt expecting nothing out of this movie... but i keep hearing good to great things, i hope that "all CG" movies arent a new trend, but i DO hope that they use more of that tech in future movies... Also... Mega-Nerds of the internet. The new Cloverfield trailer was in Youtube on the 15th, hours before the first screening of beowulf... Im very proud of you all |
It seemed like they were trying to make "I am Beowulf" into the next "This is Sparta!"

You haven't seen Beowulf until you've seen it in IMAX 3D.
Yes, I know it sounds like an advertisement, but... well, I saw it that way a few hours ago and I'm fairly sure it made the movie at least 317% better. Incredibly enough, it makes 3d WORK. Most of the 3d movies I've seen have used it entirely as a gimmick (HA! Look at me! I stick my arm out... and THE AUDIENCE SEES IT COME OUT TOO!), and the colours are usually screwed the hell up... especially green. Beowulf in imax 3d makes it seem like you are in the movie. In a tiny helicopter that's flying around invisible in the movie, but nonetheless, it gives you an unparalleled feeling of realism. If you CAN see Beowulf in imax 3d, I'd definitely suggest you should. Also... some comments. 1) Spoilered. Beowulf is the newest badass in a recent history of badass characters. He cuts off his own arm so that he can stretch further and rip a dragon's heart out of its chest! Let's see Leonidas do that! 2) The ending: What the hell? Horribly anticlimactic. Hopefully no sequel... considering that BEOWULF DIES. |
I kind of wonder if it's entirely necessary to spoiler plot points from a historic poem pre-dating the anglo-saxon rule of Europe...
Then again, better safe than sorry, I guess. |

The movie is fairly faithful to the poem and good. Hehehe! RAWR!!0!1!!
|
Kerensky, you really need to read the poem :p
Also, I heard that this movie is a horrible bastardization of the poem, true or untrue? |
