Eh, I just started a new game with a Fighter, Black Belt, White Mage and Thief. And I've started to suspect that my lack of black magic will be my eventual demise. My party's all lvl 7, and I'm having a hard time in the Marsh Cave. Suggestions?

well, most other enemies should be easy, but when it comes to Mucks and Slimes, have your Fighter, BB and Theif all target one Muck/Slime until it is dead, all the while using your WM to heal if it is needed, or attack with the others. Wizards might be tough without Lit, try using any Magic protection you have with your wm, and use the same tactic.

Buy heals and pures and learn to run. If nothing else, have your thief try to run, because his chances to run are always excellent.

run, RUN people. Those enemies only take one damage from weapons and their gold and xp is lousy. Screw it and heal up afterwards.

In the end, you'll have Black magic items and low level black magic in your ninja, so don't worry too much. But it looks like a hard party for the first part of the game.

Wait - WM has Harm. So nevermind.

Fighter - Kill (Get a silver sword ASAP)
BB - Needs to be at level 10 before he's at all useful, so... be tough.
WM - Best character with Harm and Cure. Use it.
Thief - Always gets away. So always have running when a battle looks hard. Your thief won't be killing anything until he gets a Rune or Dragon or Coral Sword anyway.

I went into the Volcano place thingie, and how am I supposed to get A-FIR? I mean, those stupid Red Gargoyle's suck! I don't hink I'll ever have enough money to get a level six spell?

AFIR is lv. 3. Go get it.

But, don't get me wrong, Red Gargoyles do suck.
