I thought you meant "groupings" as in (post)<->(wrathful castigation) and so on. The forum I went to was rather fond of that, to pick out inconsistencies idiots tried to hide in masses of text. And the ritual critique refers to the convocation of many veterans, who would then proceed to mock the poor sod's grammar skills, lack of technical knowledge, and general worthlessness, among others. This critiquing also involved comparing him unfavorable to various farm animals and their byproducts, etc.

But yes, the grouping of characters is handy. And no, I'm the idiot for misinterpreting your statement. Old AND dumb, it would seem...

Forever Zero 03-15-2004 02:00 AM

Hmm, dunno who Dezil will group with. He is somewhat eccentric, so maybe he will travel alone.

Old?!

You're only twenty! I'm only Twenty-Two this year!

If that makes you old, then I'm ancient in comparison.

Back to the focus at hand though, 'Half-Demon' seems like it's going to be a little disruptive. Potentially. Perhaps we could substitute 'Demon' for something more mundane that all the races might unexpectedly breed with. Like Imps. Or Nymphs?

Of course if your Dad did it with a Nymph he would turn into a tree. So really, you would be playing a half human, half leaf. That doesn't sound like much fun. Less disruptive, but not fun.

I doubt anyone's father would survive a close encounter with a nereid.

Only disruptive between Darilk and him... and if you're going to go that route, better not have that paladin either. Darilk wouldn't attack anyone if they were both needed alive, unless he was attacked first. Half-demon only invokes half the hatred... and Darilk is honorable... and not that stupid.

What if your father is a white mage with the breathe water spell?

Truce 03-15-2004 02:59 AM

I never said the pairing of Darilk and Tusah was logical. I thought it would be funny, really. Besides, Tusah seems to hide that he's half demon.

Anyway, FZ, would you like Dezil to join Ripel in his quest for money? I mean, those tools that Dezil has must be useful for something that Ripel could wish done, like find treasure of some sort, and Ripel likes treasure. I wouldn't put it past him to try and convince (trick) someone to join him.

Kinky. Perhaps I should play a WM after all... nah. Oh, and I hope you don't mind the copyright infringement.

Name: Lucien Soulban

Age: For me to know, for you to find out.

Race: Half-man, half-woman.

Blood type: O+

Class: Paladin

Weapon and Equipment: Suit of rune armor, the sword Sol Invictus and a bow slung behind him. He also carries a small amulet with him, though its purpose is unknown. When not girded for battle, his helmet is safely hidden in an extradimensional pocket, and he wears a long, concealing grey shroud over his armor and vestments.

Appearance: In his armor, see the Eldar warlock picture. Precisely the same thing applies. Outside of the armor, however, he has dark skin and stark white hair, as well as blue eyes that shine with determination. He carries himself with a confident ease which never quite reaches arrogance, and there is almost always a gentle smile on his face.

Summon: Phoenix, the legendary avian of death and rebirth, and a symbol of the unquenchable hope in destruction Lucien wants to bring to the world.

Bio: Much like Darlik, Lucien's family was slain in a demonic attack. Skipping all the horrific details of pain and blood, Lucien was recovered from the alcove where his sisters had hidden him by a team of paladins, who took him back to their order to "be raised right." However, it wa soon apparent that he was rather resistant to the instruction. Where the other initiates sought righetousness, Lucien only wanted vengeance. To complicate matters, unlike Darlik, whose hatred had inverted his inner spark into a black exaltation of sorts, Lucien's angst and sorrow prevented him from even touching it at all. Despondent, hating his weakness and his inability to learn the holy magics, he applied himself assiduously to the only thing he could believe in - the way of the sword. Of course, this fanatical devotion only served to alienate him from his fellow initiates, and it was soon whispered that he was as terrible as the demons he wanted to kill so badly. Eventually, a senior knight named Yurgen Kaneko took him as a journeyman apprentice, and as Lucien followed Yurgen away from the keep, there was a collective sigh of relief from them.

As Lucien travelled with Yurgen, however he realized that what he went through was by no means the worst of the horrors the demons had wreaked upon Gramza. And the lesson he learned during the long journeys was simply this; "Yours is not the only tragedy in the world." Gradually, this banked the flames of hatred in his heart and softened the wall of anger he had built around his soul... but the guilt of the survivor still haunted him, and it comprised a mental block against invoking the power of light.

It was only when Yurgen fell trying to fend off a demonic attack on a village that he finally foudn a way to let go. Dying, Yurgen whispered the only verse Lucien would ever preach.

"I may only be one, but I am one.
I may not be able to do everything, but I can do something.
And I will not let what I cannot do interfere with what I can do."

Saying so, Yurgen breathed his last, and as he did, Lucien felt the warm glow of the light that he had sought so desperately envelop him. He may not have received true enlightenment, but at least, he had found some small measure of peace. After burying the remains of his master, Lucien took up his sword, the Sol Invictus, and decided to walk a world of anguish on a quest to bring hope to those oppressed by darkness.

Since then, Lucien has seen much, and done much. But he has remained true to his purpose - to defend the masses and help the wayward find their true path, much like what Yurgen did. He entertains no illusions that he can save or aid everyone in the world. But he knows that with the power of the Light on his side, he can at least make sure that the ones around him are protected, and that he can repulse evil wherever it rears its ugly head.

Okay, just curious and all, but when are we goin' to start rp-ing? Oh, and do I still have to write down my profile and stuff, or is it okay to let it be in the last sign-up for this rp? By the way, I life in in Europe, and I guess you all live in the US so expect some delay in posting from my side.

EDIT: Nevermind about the profile part, I found the text-file at the first page... I need to read more.

Well, Dezil is interested in magical artifacts and treasure, but only to buy new tools and materials for his inventions, so that could work out.
