Let's see, stupid hammer jokes...

"My hammer has a huge hard handle..." Thor from Sandman.

Stupid cat jokes...

"Come here, pretty pussy..." Thor to Bast while completely wiped out on alkie.

I'll probably join up later, if BM will let me. Got a lot of work to do, but most likely I'll take the paladin.

If you're a paladin you need to drop the half-demon you know.

I am the opposite of this. I can promise Darilk won't make any jokes, but I know I probably will.

Don't see why. Accordign to BM, holy power comes from the goodness of the heart. And why can't a half-demon, raised by a holy order himself and exposed to good deeds not turn out good himself? He may be a half-demon, yes... but the soul is not exalted by one's birth, but by one's deeds in life.

He is disadvantaged in that he's born leaning towards evil... but doesn't beating that kind of handicap make it even better?

IHateMakingNames 03-14-2004 08:43 PM

Because in the last thread BM said no, and reasons being Paladins are trained to kill the demons, and paladins are uptight, holy rules that must be followed stiffs. They won't bend the rules a little to let any sort of half-demon, even good hearted ones, in paladin training.

Edit - He never literally said no, he just said it was like mixing fire and oil, and death, explosions, and lots of pain would be involved.

I think it's the problem that you're combining two incredibly powerful classes. The key disadvantage of the paladin is that he's incredibly good. And with the demon vice versa. If that's not a god mod I don't know what is.

Any chance I could get back in with my Holy Knight/ Artificer character?

Is it alright with you guys if I use the quotes oracles say when they cast spells in FFT in this. I think it would be kinda funny but still relevant...You guys know I am joking right?

Fair enough. I skipped straight to part 2 of the signup, so I must have missed it.

Half-demon isn't a class per se, it's a race. but I see your point, and I realise how it could be seen as god-moddy.

I'll leave that idea for another time, then... But I'll still stick with paladin.

IHateMakingNames 03-14-2004 08:50 PM

So what race? Human? Need to know so I can add you in.

And Rhuhael, just make a bio...

Edit - What would a holy demon be called? An evil angel is a Fallen Angel, would a holy demon be a Risen Demon?

Rhuhael 03-14-2004 08:52 PM

He was a Human. (sorry thought you were talking to me)

Lucas Saedlyn, current age 32

As a young man he was always inspired by the glorious power of the aeons. He watched as the grand summoners went past, each with their beasts of incredible power in tow. Initially he himself wanted to become a summoner, but when he learned the price that they payed he decided to settle with the clergy of Yevon.

When he was twenty he met a beautiful young woman set to become summoner, Cassandra, and they soon fell deeply in love and were wed within the year. He attempted to talk her out of joining the ranks of the summoners. Despite his efforts she left down that path not more than two years after they were married. She died a month after she left.
He left the temple in a fit of rage. He couldn't comprehend that she had actually died. He sought out the Al Behd to join them in their quest to attempt and stop the summoners from completeing their pilgrimmage in hopes of locating his wife in the process.

It has been ten years since then. He has become cold to the world, the wounds from his wife leaving never fully healing.
