Wii still goes for more then retail
Anyone else notice this? I went to ebay out of curiousity to see what the Wii is going for. Most of the auctions are atleast 300 dollars, some going over 500. To make sure this wasn't the norm I checked PS3, most on average they were selling for about the retail price. While the more common 360 is averaging abit less then that. Just saying judging by this, its still relatively hard to find a Wii in the US. Atleast compared to PS3 and 360

Oh yeah, totally. I hear stories all of the time about how hard it is to find a Wii, despite it being, how long out now? It's a big problem. At this point I don't know whether or not that's because the Wii is so popular, or because there aren't nearly enough Wii's being made. I'm thinking it's the former, though.

Nintendo still can produce enough of them END people are buying a lot of those...
It's a little of Columm A and a Little from B |
I don't understand this... We've got two game stores down the road and they both have heaps of wiis available and have the entire time they've been out.
And I live in a backwater where we always get the games anywhere up to a month after thier actual release. Maybe they just have crazy distribution systems. |
I think its the small towns that have it easier because fewer people buy them (since there are fewer people). I believe distribution is per store and not by population density

Who wants to make some money? I say we send B-HS money and he buys as many as he can and sells 'em on Ebay.

you forgot the part where he gives us some money after doing that... but ok =B

Also I think I remember reading somewhere the Wii isn't as popular down there in New Zealand, just didn't catch on as much as in the States. For that matter they're not that hard to find here in Australia either and I live in a city. |
I work at a Gamestop in Wisconsin.
It gets cold up here, and people look for whatever neato new indoor thing is hot every year. This year is the Wii. I deal with around fifty phone calls a day requesting the Wii, and that is a number which is growing. It seems like fifty million though, because most of those calls come in around the same time of day: right when you open, or right when all the moms get off work. I can't even count how many people come into my store, ask if we have a Wii, and immediately leave when I say no. In the beginning, I loved the idea of the Wii. After some reflection, I could no longer take the Wii seriously. After a year of dealing with people whining about Wii shortages, I fucking HATE the Wii. I have one upstairs. If it were mine, I would've sold it by now, out of anger. The damn thing just sits there, not even plugged in, hogging up space and gathering dust, never getting played because there's not a damn thing to play on it. ...Seriously, Wii. I hate you, and I hate that I have to deal with a hundred or so people daily who love you without knowing the ugly truth: that your library is only BARELY stronger than the PS3's. |
Barely? I don't agree, but that's not the point. I think alot of your rage is just pent-up from all the Gamestop work.
I also work at a Gamestop. I swear our Wiis sell out within a matter of a few hours, tops. We get like ten calls a day, and at least ten pissed-off "What do you mean you're out!?" customers a day as well. The best part is that people still can't understand why we can't take a reserve list. And it's simple - It'd be a mile long, and we don't want to hold a high-demand anything for someone in the risk they won't show up. |
