My xbox refuses treatment

My xbox I have just defies all methods to fix it. When the disk tray stopped opening I used the prescribed method of opening the dvd drive and getting the tray back in place. It worked just fine for 3 days then stopped opening again. :gonk:

How old is it?

Sometimes, consoles just get old.

If that's the case, it's cheaper to just buy a new one then to have it repaired.

it's holliday season... i think it's the perfect time for you to move on to a brand new console without being raped by prices

My xbox used to/still does do that. I think I just pushed in the disc tray whenever I tried to get it to open and it seems like that worked well enough.

I dunno, try whatever worked before again?

I have the same problem, only it's not that way all of the time and it's probably because a television fell on it, versus age.

I seriously smashed my fist on top of it a few times and it fixed the problem. You can also take a pair of pliers or a screwdriver and pry the top half of the lid upwards a bit.

I'm pretty sure wear and tear starts to seal the area. This is Xbox Classic right?

I'd think so since it seems like the xbox did this to everyone and most 360's just die.

If I were you, I'd do what I did: brake off the piece that keeps you from pulling out the tray, then use it manually. But that's just me. It was pretty funny. Then it broke for like 3 other reasons :(.
