Why didn't someone TELL ME "The Wall" was so awesome?

I just listened to "The Wall" by Pink Floyd. The album.

GOD.

Nobody really recommended it to me ever but I LOVE IT.

IT'S A FULL EXPERIANCE, and it really does detract from it when you don't listen to the full thing...

But what I see here is massive failure on the part of the world for not having this album recommended.

DFM 12-11-2007 11:27 PM

Nobody probably recommended it because they probably all assumed you'd heard it a hundred million times by now.

Since you know everyone but you has heard it a hundred million times.

Hey nobody recommended it to me either. Great now I wanna I hear "The Wall". Thanks a lot, Zilla.... ass... :(

EDIT: You misspelled experience... ass...
LOL JK about that "ass" part ;-)

Don't worry bananarama, you haven't missed much.

Professor Smarmiarty 12-12-2007 01:08 AM

Yeah it's kind of like not recommending how great breathing is.
I mean seriously.

As for the album, I didn't actually like it as much as other concept albums. It felt too focused on the concept, thus rendering the music itself a bit weak.

Well that and I never felt Pink Floyd gelled properly as a band.

Mind altering while your mind is altered. I've said enough.

katiuska 12-12-2007 05:04 AM

Well, I wouldn't have told you because it's not really where I come from. I mean, sure, giant talking asses (per the film) are fun, but as far as I'm concerned, that's what dreams are for.

It's actually hard to talk about the album without thinking of the movie; as a stand-alone album I agree it doesn't stand up well against other concept albums in my own mind. That said, I've met people who would have readily told you how awesome it was had you ever been in earshot of them.

Odjn 12-12-2007 06:50 AM

I utterly loved the wall. You need to see the movie to understand the album, really. But the music's great and it's odd and it's sadly beautiful at times. (Vera especially.)

DFM, I'd execute you for insulting said album but who'd be Pope then?

I have been meaning to buy The Wall, but I have never gotten around to it. Wish You Were Here is great though, so I think that I will make buying it a higher priority (or buy it for one of my parents for Christmas then burn it, thus getting my gift buying obligations out of the way as well as my music buying obligations).
