Britney Spears' 16 year old sister pregnant

http://www.cnn.com/2007/SHOWBIZ/TV/1....ap/index.html

Somehow, I am unsurprised at a pregnant teenage celebrity... the part I am surprised by is this:

"What message does she want to send to other teens about premarital sex? "I definitely don't think it's something you should do; it's better to wait,' she told the magazine. "But I can't be judgmental because it's a position I put myself in.'"

...are you kidding me?

Why do they even bother trying anymore? Why can't they just say, "honestly, I don't give a damn if you have sex before your married. I sure didn't care when I did."

Ok, are you freaking kidding me? 16! 16 dammit! Does she honestly think she's ready for something like this?

God. The Spears clan just never ceases to amaze me. Britney's life has been looking like a car wreck, I mean is this a competition between the two?

Well I for one...

...care. Not about the subject of this post but, the way I see it, if I get a child with my lover, I'd still care about it. But on that note, there IS a reason we have condoms in the world, and you can't say religion is against the condom itself.

Even if you use a condom as an excuse just use one... -_-

Also, in response to your question about why celebrity families still try, I counter with this: Why do news stations waste their time reporting this stuff and paying the paparazzi for getting old news? A the 16-year old sister of a slut celeb is no different that the 16-year old daughter of any f***ing where.

We hear about this stuff all the time, and frankly, since nobody seems to be doing anything TRULY helpful, I've stopped caring about other people altogether and actually started worrying about my own life.

Well, first of all she isn't a celebrity, but a sister of one. (And considering how fast Britany's going through her cash, she'll soon be in Gary Coleman territory of celebrity status. I mean, I haven't heard anything new about Lohan since apparently she ran out of money.)

And there are people out there who are complete hypocrites, and have a Do as I say, Not as I do way of telling others how to live.

It very similar sort of behavior of somebody like Senator Craig, who was by all accounts very anti-gay, yet is in fact, gay himself.

Not to say that Spears (sorry don't feel like learning sis's name) hits that level of hypocrisy, but based on some of Brittany's comments & life choices, it wouldn't shock me to find out that the family has that kind of mentality.

Actually, she has become a celebrity in her own right as the star of a Disney TV show called Zoey 101. The show is very popular with the tweenage set.

Anyway, although it is disappointing that one so young didn't practice safe sex, it is refreshing to read that she is taking personal responsibility for her actions, rather than blaming the pregnancy solely on her boyfriend or her career demands.

Her career as a child star may be over, but there is a chance that she will learn from her sister's mistakes and emerge from from her self-created crisis to become an even better role model for teenage girls who are facing unplanned pregnancies.

Crap, now I'm not gonna be able to turn on a news station for the better part of a year cause you know all the news stations are gonna be reporting on this up until the moment she spews that spawn of satan out.

Though I suppose this is why I prefer to turn to "The Daily Show" instead of normal news cause they at least truely don't give a damn about this kinda stuff. I mean I've learned more about the world watching them for a half hour then I do if I watch CNN all day.

Also on the whole subject of sex before marriage thing it's not like she is the only person in this country who is having premarital sex. At least 95% of the American population is having and will have sex before marriage, and there is absolutley no reason to care unless you are part of that 5% and a rabbid bible thumper, but I wouldn't be surprised if even they were having sex before marriage

I guess for some reason famous people think they are immune to the problems regular people face.

I really hope the baby looks like Aaron Carter.

Or, maybe she decided she wanted to have a child at 16, there are worse things that could happen.

We'll leave side comments about religious beliefs out of it folks.

Fifthfiend 12-19-2007 01:22 PM

For that matter I'm gonna go ahead and move this to Gen. Discussion is supposed to be for Serious Business-type stuff, not celebrity tabloid-scandal.

On one minor point of correction:

Quote:

you can't say religion is against the condom itself.
Just as a for-instance, the Catholic Church is actually quite clearly and explicitly against all forms of contraception, and many Protestant denominations, while okay with condoms, are certainly against other methods of birth control (IE, the pill).

I mention this purely for the sake of factual accuracy and am making no argument for or against such practices so per Shiney let's have that be the end of religious asides here.

It's kind of a shame watching a legitimately good and enjoyable young actress flame out like that, while somehow the Mandy Moore machine keeps right on going.

Well played, Clerks Fifthfiend. Well played indeed.
