Suggest me an Anime.

I'm not familiar with a lot of little-known animes... so here's a few more popular ones that you may or may not have seen.

Berserk is about a guy named Gatts, another guy named Griffith, and my name's sake (the foxiest lady swordsman ever!) It's got a lot of violence, kinda strange storyline, and... eh... has demons. It's awesome.

Hellsing also has lots of violence and demons, as it's about vampires hunting down vampires in a weird government-type agency. Alucard is the ultimate badass.

Full Metal Panic could certainly be called violent, but it's hilarious! Pretty much it's about this militant guy going to high school and blowing things up.

Read or Die the smaller series (eh... dunno what it's called... but it isn't the TV series) has some humorous moments, and some action. Positively beautiful animation.

Pet Shop of Horrors is 4 episodes long. It's only a little creepy, but touching at the end of each ep. Also has some humorous moments.

Princess Mononoke, Blood: The Last Vampire, and Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust are all awesome anime movies. While the vampire ones are self-explanatory, Princess Mononoke is more in the "other" genre, but has action and wonderful animation.

I'll try adding to this list if I can think of more =P

I own all of these. :D I'm actually trying to get the rest of the Naruto I am missing. I had planned on buying Naruto at Megacon, but it would appear my money dissappeared, or maybe went to buying other various things. :(

I don't believe I have seen "Read of Die", though. I might give that a shot.

Alright, then, here I go...

Magical Shopping Arcade Abenobashi: A hilarious show that mocks all forms of geekdom, such as RPGs, Hong Kong action flicks, giant robot anime, and everything else you can think of. Absolutely crazy, though not my favorite.

The Slayers: Old standard, just make sure you avoid the OVAs. Sorry, but in my opinion, the old shows with Gourry and Zelgadis are the best, and the funniest. Of course, you've probably seen this, so...

Serial Experiments Lain: Freaky examination of reality and the internet, all around a great mysterious story. One of my favorites.

BoogiePop Phantom: Kind of like a Lain, but not as deep, and in a different direction. The plot isn't the important part of this series, its the metaphores and the characters and the situations that it presents that makes you think.

Last Exile: Good steampunk anime about the class system and such. Very good, though I can't describe it well.

FLCL: You should have already seen this.

Haibane Renmei: From the same people as lain, except pretty much the opposite. A light hearted mysterious tale that gets you involved.

Cat Soup: Haven't seen it, but I have heard that it is a straight acid trip, so if thats your thing.

.Hack//sign: On television all the time, no doubt you've seen or heard of this.

Initial D: Like a good "speed racer." A show thats really good at keeping you in suspense.

Excel Saga: A funny show on crack. Just hilarious.

Sorry if you've already heard of all these, just posting what I know. If you look for an anime, just do what I do: Avoid anything with Angel in the title, and definitely avoid Crest of the Stars (no offense to the fans).

Twist3dDreams 03-17-2004 02:40 AM

I have not seen Excel Saga but have heard good things about it. I suppose I will give that a shot as well. I just finished watching Initial D not too long ago, as I am addicted to the arcade game now, figured I should check it out. It is damn good.

And I disagree with your "Nothing with Angel in it". Angel Sanctuary is definatly in one of my top ten favorites. :D If you get past the gay stuff, it's pretty awesome.

Chances are your seen them but anything By Miazaki (probably butchered his name) like :

My Neighbour Totoro

Porco roso

Laputa: Castle In the Sky

Naussica: The Valley of the Wind

Spirited Away

Mononoke Hime

thoes are most of the good ones but you might want to watch The Amazing Transforming Tanuki. Its interesting but quite long

Twist3dDreams 03-17-2004 03:36 AM

Mmm, to be honest, I don't care for that guys anime. Don't like his stories, and especially not his art. Only one I can really stomach is Mononoke Hime. :P

Sadly enough, I did watch the tramsforming Tanuki. Poor little fox guy, or something. Kinda got bored with it.

Armitage III: Poly and Dual Matrix - Good, cyberpunk and conspiracy to eliminate the 'thirds' a third illegally produced robot that (depending on the gender) can conceive children. The second (Dual Matrix) continues a few years right after Poly Matrix when thirds were killed on mars. I'd tell you everything but if you havent watched it, its good.

Metropolis - A good anime that has an equally depressing ending. It's about robots, and a something well... youll see.

Gundam 0083 "Stardust Memory" - A pretty good gundam anime, something very excellent. Its the anime right before the federation officially turns evil. You also get to see some killer mecha.

Nosferatu 03-17-2004 10:07 PM

(gundem) 08th squad or sumtin In my opinion best gundam and rarly seen on tv

Perfect Blue Very very disturbing movie, bout a japanease pop girl who decides to quit her career to become an actor, she is then huanted by illusion's of herself and her employers begin to get Bruttaly (and i meen DAMN brutal murder's) murdered.

Bubblegum Crisis Tokyo 2040 Future japan where robots do all the meaningless jobs, wait tables, sweep, Etc. Unfortianatly the robots have a virus where if it gets one massivly mutats the robot turning him into a bloodthirsty killing machine. Enter the hot chicks in kick ass robotic form fitting suits to kick their ass.

3x3 Eye's Anime based on Tibetian mythology. Last surviving Sunjianunkara (3 eyed immortal demon) is trying to become human and runs into Yokumo a boy whos father was helping Pie ( the 3 eyed demon in human form). Yokumo is subsequiently torn to peices by Pie's pet....er..."bird thingy". She asorbs his soul to sustain his life making his body itself Immortal (but lil sucka can still feel lots and lots of pain! sucks dont it?) They then search for the nin-nang-no-zoe in which is beleived to grant pie power to become human.

Blue Seed Anime based on Japanease mythology. Hard to explain, so just find out bout it yourself. (not jokin bout hard part its to much myth to explain)
