Trade in Values
Anyone know where I can get values, or have a guestimate of the value of the following:
PS2 (Slimline) 4 controllers (All official Sony) Multitap (Official Sony) Naruto Ultimate Ninja 2 Champions of Norath and Return to Arms Gauntlet Dark Legacy Red Star King of Fighters 2006 Timesplitters 2 and 3 X Men Legends 2 Kessen 3 Gungrave Capcom Fighting Evolution Onimusha Blade Warriors I didnt get enough Xmas dough to cover the full cost of the PS3, so Im not allowed to syphon pay money to buy games, and I dont wanna wait till my Birthday for money to buy some games either. |
Call or go to a gamestop.
They might tell you, but most stores have a policy against telling you trade in values over the phone, but if you go to the store they will definitely tell you. |
Id like to know before I haul all that shit in tomorrow, since y'know, Bowing Day is hella busy and all.

Just sell them.
Trade-in values are Zero every time. |
Yeah, unless you need the cash really quick, I would sell them. You get terrible prices for the trade-ins (like half of whatever you think you would get). But regardless, I've called Gamestop about trade in values quite a few times, at least at my local store, so I think it should be fine.

Yeah, you could maybe look at what people are selling them for on Ebay, and then fourth it. Really, if you think they're selling the game for about seven bucks the actual amount they'd give you for them is pretty slim. You'd be better off selling them at a yard sale or eBay or something most of the time as far as Gamestop goes.
You'd also be better off selling the PS2 separate to someone else and not to Gamestop, as I guarantee the amount they'll give you for a used PS2, you'd probably rather just save it as a backup if something goes wrong with your PS3 or it won't play the PS2 games or something. |
gamestop is horrible for their trade in values. I like Game Crazy myself, but just for purchasings, i never trade in my stuff. (although if i DID i may be able to get SMGalaxy... hmm....)

Generally speaking, if you're looking to get In-Store Credit for use AT a Gamestop, the prices are pretty fair -- better than you'd get in most places. That's not to say you'll get a lot of money, but a fair amount given that you're handing over these things to a place designed to capitalize on re-selling.
If you're looking for cash, other places can give you a better deal. In my area, the cash at second-hand stores and such is never as good as Gamestop's In-Store Credit, but then, credit is never as good as cash. So it's your call. |
I preffer Game Crazy myself. You should know except new games, they normally give you the same value for all games on a platform. Some games its better to set aside and sell later. So I'd check to see what the game is selling for first, if the value is a good amount higher then sell it instead

What I've found that gamestop does is they buy guys from you for roughly half the re-sale value. However, a good way to get a half decent deal on some of the games you sell to them is to buy them used in the first place, then when you're ready to sell them back to the store, take off all the used stickers and they'll buy it from you for the new-buy back price instead of the old.
It gets better with school text books too. I'll actually turn a profit on selling my books back to the store because I'll buy online, then sell it to the store at thier inflated price. I made something like 30 bucks this semester alone on just 2 books I sold to them. |
