I Am America (And So Can You!)

I received Stephen Colbert's book for Christmas and was a bit apprehensive as to how his comedy would transfer to book format. I needn't have worried: it transferred perfectly.

Seriously one of the more hilarious things I've read. I skimmed through it and just the chapter on Sex alone would've been enough to sell it, wherein Stephen Colbert rails about how godless animals are having sex willy-nilly (bears are a top offender), though he praises a species of lizard because, "it reproduces through Parthenogenesis, just like God intended. I mean, it has Genesis right in the name." He also rates positions, with the number one being, "Missionary Position, followed by a firm handshake."

His hatred for the elderly is also, uh, inspiring, to say the least.

Really a hilarious read, a great work of satire, from the "tips" on parenting (reminded me slightly of Maddox) to the various hilarious charts and pictures throughout.

Let's not forget about the 5 F's of childhood: Family, Faith, Furry Friends, and Fear of the elderly.

I think that if laughter is the best medicine, the powdered essence of this book could cure cancer...

...

TO THE LAB!

I've forgotten who it was that recommended this book to me through Yaplet, but THANK YOU. I almost never ask for books, and this one certainly wouldn't have occurred to me otherwise.

It was one of the better things I got that has any replay value. For comparison, FF1 (PSP) and Halo (PC) were also on that list. Frig, I'm still laughing and I've just started the book today!

Let me just say that the Fun Zone game where you match pictures of different dog testicles to the correct species (and Bob Barker) in an attempt to "re-ball the gang before the female dog is out of heat" was pretty much a book breaking experience. You might as well just stop there because HOW CAN IT GET FUNNIER?! I look forward with great anticipation.

What totally made me say that this was worth the money was the flow chart for you to figure out if someone is gay or not. Pure classic.

Hi. burly bear!

I'm on the Sex chapter I think. I stopped reading because I got Nuklear Age. I'll start reading it when I'm back in school, it's easier to carry.

Mondt isn't sure cause he forgot what sex looked like.

In other news, this book is an amazing read.

If you even remotely like the Colbert Report, this book is the key to hilarity. A Don't forget to snuggle up with a bowl of Americone Dream (Colbert's official flavor, courtesy of Ben & Jerry) when you read it.

An excellent companion piece to The Daily Show's "America (The Book)", both of which I enjoyed immensely. Sort of like the shows themselves, really.
