Kataran't you sick of these puns? Another Avatar Thread

Best I could think of.

Yeah, the instant I saw the end of the dragon dance, I yelled, "FYU-SHUN-HA!"

Sky Warrior Bob 01-06-2008 06:48 PM

Dragon dance? Is this from the episode where Aang entered a Fire academy? Or are you talking about something else? (Either way, my memory is fuzzy.)

Don't tell me another Avatar has been released past the one where Zuko joins the Gaang?!?

Episode 13 has been secretly released and Zuko + Aang go on a quest to master firebending!

Sky Warrior Bob 01-06-2008 07:31 PM

Yeah, I just saw it via the YouTube. Was this played originally on US Nickelodeon, or did somebody else get it first again?

And does anyone know when the next one is going to be released?

As to the episode itself, I didn't care much for it. Everyone pretty much came off as a stereotype of themselves. Aang, was too much of a doofus, Katara was way too catty, and Sokka was making too many bad jokes.

Only Toph came off as being a good characterization.

But I've got a question, if the Sky Bisons taught Air bending, could Appa be the last Sky Bison? I mean, it isn't like we've seen too many of them. Plus, the Fire Nation was pretty thorough in wiping out all of the Air Nation. You'd think they'd do a similar number on the Sky Bisons.

This week, Friday. Canada is having them shown right now. Also, I thought Aang once said Appa was the last Sky Bison.

By the way, worst title ever, even by Avatar standards.

Oh man. I didn't think I was worthy of such praise.

And forget you guys, I liked this episode. Had more point to it than other episodes this season, at least.

Well done lad, well done.

Don't diss Sokka's swordsmastery training!

It was a nice episode, despite the lack of Aang and Zuko trying to shoot lightning. (which I hope they will eventually)

The Wizard Who Did It 01-07-2008 05:01 PM

This episode kinda disappointed me. First of all, a lot of it seemed rather forced. Second of all, I was almost hoping for Aang and Zuko to find out that Jerkbending really WAS fueled by rage. I almost expected the Elder guy to say, "Look, we have a city with traps in the middle of the road. Our more advanced brothers committed genocide on our masters. How could you think that anything BUT spite fueled our power?" I mean, in my eye, this would force Zuko and Aang to learn to reinvent Jerkbending in a non-destructive way, and by extension symbolically learn to reinvent the Fire Nation as a whole. Mostly though, the alternative that they used just seemed stereotypical. Then, I remembered, of course, kid's show.

However, it did have it's highlights. It advanced plot, the dragons moving in sync with the firebending techniques was pretty badass.

I didn't like it. Like Twid said, it seemed forced, but in the sense that it was again telling us Zuko is now good. We've already been building that up since Book 2, and had Day of Black Sun and Western Air Temple for it. Then we apparently needed another way of telling us this by "changing" the firebending. They didn't even really explain it, besides that seeing the fire in pretty colors makes them understand.

Plus everyone seemed very one-dimensional.

Regulus Tera 01-07-2008 06:37 PM

If it was forced then they absolutely managed to hide it. I thought the integration was seamless and that it made complete sense, considering how Aangsty Zuko was for two seasons and the sudden turn of events of everything.

I liked it a lot. This is one of my new favourite epidodes.

Ok....if an Avatar Episode was on last night I couldnt find it.

Was there one?

Regulus Tera 01-12-2008 09:25 AM

According to my sources, there was none, because the it is going to be banked next week with the following as a one-hour special.

Mondt 01-12-2008 12:49 PM

Yeah I was going to websites that let you download it but no view it like the rest of them. It made no sense so I kinda just left.

So another one hour special?

Man, Nick needs to get their head outta the clouds and keep people up to date :P

notme 01-17-2008 01:11 AM

I don't know, I kinda liked the latest episode.

I mean, firebending can't be all bad. Think about it, Iroh is the man and he can still use it like a champ. If firebending relied only on rage then the show would have one hell of a time trying to answer how someone like he could use it at all.

It basically says that Canada restarted the episodes. Next one will be the Painted Lady and they won't have a new one until they finish this run. Sorry.

Mondt 01-21-2008 02:11 AM

D'aw.

Oh well.

Thanks.

Hey, I'm the Brazilian guy and that's my source. :shifty:

Now, seriously, yeah, there won't be a new episode so soon... But they're airing two episodes per week, so it won't take that long.

Regulus Tera 01-22-2008 03:45 PM

Finder's Keeper's! Sucker!!!

No, seriously, go whine with the Portuguese for making a language so similar to Spanish.

Dang, you got me with that one. Of course, a number of experts on either language would argue on how many differences they have, but they are pretty alike, mostly.

And now, something Avatar-related:

The third season started airing over here two days ago. Seriously.
