Technically, he was a fallen angel, not a demon. Those two things are slightly different, despite the "But I'm a fucking demon" line.

And I would think FF would be more based on anime then US movies.

Krylo 03-18-2004 11:29 PM

I've heard that the bigger the horn... well... you know. And he's certainly no tentacle demon...

IHateMakingNames 03-18-2004 11:31 PM

Yeah, and I've heard that the bigger the nose, the bigger the feet, the bigger the hands, the bigger the _____.

And tentacle demons are just tentacles.

(Why do my characters keep getting questioned like this?)

Krylo 03-18-2004 11:32 PM

Because you mentioned him having a big 'stock'... and I feel the need to make stupid comments about that after the nickname I've gained here.

Edit: Also, I'm confused on the setting of all this shit going on. One minute there's rock spitting bush puking... now there's streets and carts and buildings for dragoons to jump down off of.

IHateMakingNames 03-18-2004 11:34 PM

For once this didn't start with me. Demon was the one that mentioned several characters 'stock'. I'm just defending my character.

Edit - It's because they are stupid and can't remember things.

Squishy Cheeks 03-18-2004 11:38 PM

what's to remember?

Krylo 03-18-2004 11:39 PM

Also, in response to the last couple OOC posts on the actual thread... His thoughts about them aren't much different than what Darilk's would be... other than the feeling like killing highly trained idiots. Really now... you have person A unable to steer a chocobo worth shit, and then picking a fight with two other people, one of which is some kind of ronin samurai (quite obviously), that decided to interject himself into a fight for no reason... and then you have some fool (wouldn't know he's a dragoon, because only avians can be that and he's not showing off his heritage) jumping down in the middle of it all, risking his neck for no apparent reason... and what's more, he falls off of the cart he's on... thus making him a clumsy guy jumping off of buildings into fights.

Demon with a Glass Hand 03-18-2004 11:41 PM

While I would agree that this Rp is probably (heh.) in a more Eastern portrayl, I was making a reference to better illustrate for Celes what the size of your horns might be like.

Semantics aside, whether he was a fallen angel or not, he had horns. Horns small enough to be hidden by a bandanna. Whether yours are of a more 'Japanese' ideal is pointless to debate.

Small horns. Illustrated. Referenced.

edit - All of which could have been avoided if IHMN hadn't taken someone bumping into him as a death worthy offence.

Squishy Cheeks 03-18-2004 11:42 PM

Also said idiot chocobo driver alomost hit said ronin. and when the ronin said they should get out of his way, still a very ronin thing. the moron attacked him Then the halfassed birdman had to get involved.

IHateMakingNames 03-18-2004 11:45 PM

Why do his horns have to be very small for a bandana to hide them? Bandana is stretched out and put upward, then bends over his head. His horns could be five inches long (A good size for horns on a humanoid demon) and bent slghtly back and still be hidden.

And my character is arrogant, so I have to play him like that.

Edit - And how can an avian hide their wings? I assumed they were very large, and at most could only bend around the avian like a cloak.

Demios can steer a chocobo, just got dust in his eyes. A lot of dust. And then there was some random wrong turns.

Demios is kinda stupid and gets into fights a lot, usually ending up hurt. Badly. He just never learns his lesson.

Darth SS 03-18-2004 11:46 PM

The so-called half-assed bird-man just told you two to break it up so we wouldn't have a PvP battle.

And he's one of the "good" guys.

Krylo 03-18-2004 11:49 PM

I'd like to point out that my post was from the IC perspective of IHMN's character... not from the ooc perspective where I know all of the reasons for the actions. I simply went through the logic through which he would assume you three were idiots (with Deimos being the most idiotic, and Musashi being the least).

J Man 03-18-2004 11:49 PM

Guys, I suggest we stop all the posting within the role playing thread, it's becoming a little much for the people who aren't there.

Demon with a Glass Hand 03-18-2004 11:54 PM

Arrogant, you say?

As in 'Having or displaying a sense of overbearing self-worth or self-importance.' or 'Marked by or arising from a feeling or assumption of one's superiority toward others.'

Yeah, I can see him throwing down a couple of choice words, but he could also have dismissed the duel by scoffing at [Jman] and walking away.

For why should he waste his time teaching a whelp a lesson?

Anyways, I find it all very entertaining. The tension and testosterone in this sausage factory is not only hilarious, it's also fucking hilarious.

Game on!

BMHadoken 03-19-2004 01:31 PM

I think I'm just gunna combine the inevtiable...yes, the next Discussion thread will double as the Omake thread...tournament will be next chapter. Do you want to do it individually, or all at once? (I.e. First the archery tournament, then the group fight, then so on and so forth, or just do it all at once?)

TheSpiritOfVengance 03-19-2004 06:57 PM

Hmm One at a time seems nice but then so does all at once. I'll leave it up to a coin toss...One at a time...

Krylo 03-19-2004 07:16 PM

How about a combination of the two ideas? Have the actual fights take place in between the other events. I think that's how I would do it if I was actually hosting something like this. The fights are what most people are going to want to see, so having a bunch of other stuff at either the beginning or the end and they're going to want to come late or early to avoid it... but if you stagger it like that, they gotta get tickets to everything. Plus... even fights would get boring if it was just one after another with no breaks... and the spectators wouldn't have to worry about missing one event to see another, AND it would mean people wouldn't have to wait as long for the fights to get over to do their other things.

I.E. Round one of single battles, chocobo race, round one of group battles, archery, round two of single battles, etc. etc.

Edit: Also, what's the 'warm-up area', as spirit put it, like? Are there rooms where groups/people can hang out together/get ready in until it's time to fight/race/whatever... or is it like a big hallway dealie, or what?

BMHadoken 03-19-2004 07:52 PM

I was thinking hallway dealie with small rooms branching off for the on deck people.

And is that two votes for one at a time, just intersperse the events?

Squishy Cheeks 03-19-2004 07:56 PM

The romans did colloseum events like this.

Beast hunts/ races
Public executions
Mock battles
1 v. 1 Gladiator fights.

BMHadoken 03-19-2004 07:59 PM

Yeah, the order of events really isnt my biggest priority, its how we should post. If we do it one at a time then we run the risk of having that RPer not show up and make us all wait, while the all at once approach would provide a lot of confusin fast...

Also, SS will have to control Melfice's guy, hes gunna be gone for a bit he said, and he asked me to not kill his guy off.

BMHadoken 03-19-2004 08:02 PM

The order of events is not important right now, its how were gunna handle the posting...

lazy man 03-19-2004 08:03 PM

I don't really care, so just put my vote into whatever's winning.

BMHadoken 03-19-2004 09:40 PM

Ok, the order of events at this years Combast Tourney...

Chocobo Race (featuring Demon)
Mounted battle (with Jad's guy)
Archery (lazy)
Sword Finesse (Jads)
1 vs 1 Heavyweight fight (IHMN)
Paired Fight (Teh Dragoons)
Group Battle (Ripels gang)
Mursang (Me)

Did I forget anyone? Celes is just watching (we could have a Pet show?), MC43 is helping with the healing...I just have the feeling that I missed someone...

Oh, and its hosted by none other than Wedge.

TheSpiritOfVengance 03-19-2004 10:27 PM

Dante I think... But I like how the posting order is...

BMHadoken 03-19-2004 10:30 PM

I think he left before the RP got started...

Darth SS 03-19-2004 10:33 PM

Hey, has anyone heard from melfice?

BMHadoken 03-19-2004 10:34 PM

I have, he told me he had to leave for a little bit.

Truce 03-20-2004 01:22 AM

Tournament tomorrow, eh? Are we allowed to use throwing weapons and other items?

Krylo 03-20-2004 01:49 AM

Also, seeming as Darilk will be fighting soon... I can only think of two dark knight abilities, but I figure I should pass them through for inspection. First is a 'dark wave' technique--ala Cecil's Reflection in the paladin trial mirror, in which he swings his sword and an arc of black energy flies out of it, shooting in the direction he swung, and blasts apart anything it comes into contact with. The second is a variant of Gaff Gafgarian's Night Sword, from FFT. Gaff's was a long range drain attack, I figure it would be less over-powered and more 'knighty' to have it be a melee ability. Darilk thrusts his sword into someone and drains the life force from them and into himself, relieving physical exhaustion and healing wounds... as the victim goes through an indian jones 'oops, wrong holy grail' type death. It's unlikely he'll use either in the tournament, but just incase he needs to.

Also... will killing be allowed in the tournament? It would change Darilk's fighting style a bit if he's not allowed to kill.

Melfice 03-20-2004 04:54 AM

Yeah, like BmHadoken said, I'm gonna be a preoccupied for a couple of weeks with school, so can't post too often, so it would be useful if someone, probably SS, would take over Samvela (my character). They could have said this sooner at school so I wouldn't have joined, but alas, life, and especiailly school, is a harsh tutor.

Yours truly,
Melfice

BMHadoken 03-20-2004 10:57 AM

Anythings allowed in the torunament, but killing is a no-no. Its just a tournament, not a blood-bath.

Also, I'm thinking of just writing up Wedge's intros for each event, then PMing them to you all, cuz I'm gunna be gone from Monday to Wednesday.

You'll still have the discussion/omake (which I am making now of course...)

MC43 03-20-2004 07:33 PM

Damn it! I just realized of the new thread. That's what happens when one is gone for a long time. I hope you all didn't forget I was in this. Anyway, I should have some time now, so I'll be able to post during this weekend, then hopefully during the week.

IHateMakingNames 03-20-2004 10:59 PM

Celes will be gone (Or not on a lot) until Tuesday. Her character is just going to watch everything (And I have semi-control over her character).

And why is Tasuh in the Heavyweight fight? He isn't some big guy, he's the size of an average human. He's only strong because of his demon half, but he doesn't look it at all. Darilk is probably bigger then him (Assuming Darilk is rather large, which I have).

MC43 03-20-2004 11:02 PM

Uh... am I missing something? How is it that I'm not getting any of this information? I know I haven't been around for a while, but I'm still in this... right? Hello?

Krylo 03-20-2004 11:26 PM

J-Man: Veimi = Lord of the city of Combast (where the tournament is being held).

MC: If you're talking about people being gone, she never said anything here... IHMN must have gotten it through PMs, much as I did. Same goes for Melfice, only switch IHMN getting it through PMs with BMHadoken.

Mr. Viewtiful 03-20-2004 11:47 PM

Yo.

Guess who's back? Back agi---Crap, forget it, it's been overused WAY too much already...

Well, nuthin' like a view of the Pacific coast on a brisk morning (or two) to relax you from the drudgery of everyday life...so, what exactly did I miss (give me the CliffsNotes version, not the smart-*** 'LOOK @ IT YOSELF LOL' version, please).

And I didn't know I had a nickname, so FZ, keep that newspaper away from me! *runs away*

Demon with a Glass Hand 03-21-2004 02:58 AM

Cliff Notes Version

Everyone is converging in the city to either participate in, or watch, the tournament.

There are certain events that can be signed up for, and everyone is scrambling to get spots in said events.

Other than that, a fight broke out. Kinda. Not really. Involved a Chocobo. That's all I really care to note.

BMHadoken 03-21-2004 11:34 AM

IHMN, your gunna be fighting a heavyweight, but I can just change it to 1 on 1 fight if its really irking you that much.

People arent here all the time MC, with just under 20 people its gunna happen a tad more often then when theres only 10. The next Discussion/Omake will be up in about three minutes.
