Resident Evil=Movie

first im sure we all realize this: the resident evil movies suck plain and simple. I think it would be awsome if they were directly based off the games or it would be even better if they were based directly off the resident evil books written by sd perry. but its too late for that now they screwed it up with that offshoot story line that only made sense to me once i beat all the games(RE:0 excluded that game sucked) and read all the books by sd perry. after all that the movie made sense.

if any one else can help me to understand the movie further please do.

No movie that has millia jovavich running around in a short red dress and a gun could possibly suck.

i think the best way to "understand" it is to not try to udnerstnad it. it was a zombie shoot 'em up loosely based on the video games.

altho, these RE books you talk of... they intrigue me. i didnt knwo htey existed.

Then they should've just made the movie "Milla in a Red Dress: This time she's got a gun!"

Just so you know, the books by S.D. Perry are very similar to the movie in regards that they loosely follow the game story-lines. They're also filled with some odd plot-holes that needed to be fleshed out and weird quirks like a shadowy guy named Trent who never was in any of the games. Also Jill isn't an ex-Delta force member as the game led us to believe, she's the daughter of a famous cat-burgler named Dick Valentine.

Another odd thing is that Rebecca Chambers (the useless, uneaten sack of flesh of RE) is the hero of her own book where all other characters seem to have interior monologues about how wonderful lil' Becky is. It's kind of disturbing, really. But, hey, don't take my work for it.

The movie sucked if you were expecting a plot.
It's a zombie horror movie.
All zombie movies are summed up like this.
Guy1: Zombies!!! Run!!!
Guy2: My leg! leave me I'll hold them off!!
Blende chick: HELP ME!!

I enjoy watching people get sliced apart with lasers. Someone needs to make a movie that soley consists of that part in the Resident Evil movie.

I love zombie movies (see the thread I started to that effect) and I enjoyed the first one, and I will go see the second. Zombie movies arn't ment to be "film" or "smart" or even "not retarded" but they are fun.

BRAAAAAIIINNNSSS!

I enjoyed the Resident Evil movie, probably because I did go in with low expectations. Mindless violence is always entertaining.

I didn't like the movie. One reason is because they killed off all of the characters I could actually stand, patheticly. Then the next day I saw Blade 2, which out of the senseless zombie killing and the senseless vampire killing, the vampires were more entertaining.

how did you people have your expectations so high? lets look at the two genres this movie is in.

1. Zombie movies
2. Video Game based movies

seriously, this is one of the better movies of at least the second category, and a good one from the first. its like Reign of Fire. Sure it was a bad movie, but if you think of it in terms of its genre, post apocalyptic dragon movies, then it kicked ass.

Reign of Fire did kick ass. People expect too much out of everything.
