So we got off school today for snow today. Bout five inches, more and ice on the way. Yay. We had one day off before this, the only other time it has snowed this season. Anyone else make cool snow stuff?

One time, many years ago, my dad and siblings and myself went out front (as we were oft to do during the winter months) and attempted to build a fantastic, multi-level snow fort. We were a bit late though, and it became too warm for the thing to stay up. But it was pretty cool during the construction process.

And that there's not a bad wall. Looks like it could take a fair beating.

Once I built a massive snow tower that turned into ice over night. I was attempting to build a replica of the Eiffel tower but it ended up just being a big tower, about 8 feet high, maybe 2 foot in diameter. It was rather phallic, but psycho analysis was lost on me at that age. It's rather embarrassing now that I look back on it. It was like a giant penis in the front yard. Eventually my older brother's friend drove into it with their car (on purpose). Thus ended the penis-tower.

In other years we've built some pretty impressive igloos, with multiple chambers, and holes to pop up out of to throw snowballs.

I no longer want to built stuff out of snow/ice for one reason: Andy Goldsworthy. I'd feel so inferior... That, and I don't like the snow.

Although it may be possible later this year, We haven't gotten much snow (enough to warrant a 2 hour delay for school, though!). Winter of early 2007, though, was great fun; My best friend has about 1.5 acres of land, mostly unused, so at the time was covered with snow. At the time, he had a claymore, so we (mainly me, though) had much fun building up snowmen and then creatively killing them. Except for one, which was posed with my friends two dogs. When I get the time, I should really through those ones up.

I've been shoveling -- that's like making cool snow stuff. Or not, but maybe I can Tom Sawyer the neighbor kids into doing it next time, and then we can all be happy.

Back in the day, my brother and I used to make ourselves snow forts for our ongoing war, but I think most resources tended to go toward offense.
