Video Gamer saves Life!

Read the story here!

To this I only have five words...

"Suck on that, Jack Thompson!"

*cracks up*
HELL YES.

That is awesome. I'm glad we finally have some evidence contrary of the normal 'video games reflecting in real life' argument.

On a side note, I WANT that game.

Demetrius 01-18-2008 10:26 PM

The game is a free download.

I love the story, it provided me with a good feeling inside.

Now I have to post this everywhere.

THANKS A LOT ASSWHORE!

But man, this is really cool.

This sounds exactly like what Thompson was always arguing, though, that games do actually instill knowledge and influence behavior.

Though in this case positive.

Point is, this would be a much rarer case than the violence, even the ones where video games truly are to blame,

But if one can learn medical skills than one could learn to shoot guns and stuff much easier and games about learning how to shoot people are much more predominent than games about accurate medic skills.

DFM 01-19-2008 04:14 PM

And even the game that taught him accurate first aid skills is a squad based first person shooter.

Mr.Bookworm 01-19-2008 05:31 PM

And America's Army is a lot more realistic than most shooters.

Not to mention that you can learn stuff from games, sure, just like you can learn stuff from TV or a book. But I really don't see how you could argue that the game influenced his behavior. He just used stuff he learned how to do on a game, just like some people learn how to cook from Iron Chef.
