Alright 'foo's, I got some new lists for you all to read.

Insanity Rules: A major part of the RP, so now a list to help you out.

Items (Update): Added new lists, since many of you complained about the lack of items. Housing isn't as important now.

Current Char Stats: This is a list I will keep close during the RP. It holds your vital stats like HP and SP, says how much ammo you have, and in for fast paced events like a combat situation, I have all those basic stats. Anything I could say "Everyone roll X dice" I now have on this list. Otherwise, your will need to tell me things like "My char looks at the book and says, 'I will try to decipher this" and I will do the necessary rolls.

Two last notes. 1. The higher your DEX, the sooner you go in battle, so if a person is off line and their turn comes up, I will control them so that everyone doesn't have to wait a day or two for them to log on. krylo and IHMN, you two are invisible, so make it known if the RP goes into a combat scenario if you guys are online, otherwise I might take your turns by accident.

2. Umm, this was something I forgot, but if you see any problems with your Final Char sheet, let me know and I will fix it. And yes your HPs are the originals, I decided not to alter them at all... So be careful...

IHateMakingNames 03-21-2004 10:50 PM

My guys items.

Weapons -
.32 Automatic (Belt holster)
Two .32 Automatic clips
.45 Automatic (Chest holster)
Two .45 Automatic clips

Items -
Pocket Knife
Ford Model T
Wrist Watch
Coca-Cola
Penil
Self-Filling Fountian Pen
Writing Tablet
Wallet (Money and ID)

Forever Zero 03-21-2004 10:56 PM

Alright IHMN, updated both lists, your original one, and the quick sheet. I'll update the one in the post in a second.

EDIT: Updated.

EDIT2: Oh, and we will need a maximum of 3 people with the driving skill, and three cars. We have 14 people, and a car can hold either 5 or 4, can't remember on those old cars, so unless some people agree to being left behind when everyone goes on missions, we need enough cars and drivers for everyone.

lazy man 03-21-2004 10:59 PM

What's with the 99% malfunction for the handgun?

Forever Zero 03-21-2004 11:00 PM

Means that 1% of the time, it will not work. In an automatic or any gun with a clip, that means it will jam and need a Mechanical Repair check to fix. In a revolver, it just means a dud bullet.

Sithdarth 03-21-2004 11:07 PM

Just noticed that I am one of the harder to damage charcters; however, I am lacking in sanity a little which is reasonable for a man of science who suddenly discovers science can't explain everything.

Also a quick addition to my items:

Items:
Tools:
Tool outfit
Hand Drill
Large steel pulley
Light Chain
Gasoline Blowtorch

Miscellaneous:
Wrist Watch
250-power Microscope
Unabridged Dictionary
10-Volume Encyclopedia

All this is left were ever I happen to be set up to work. ie. Base (if we get one in boston) or my house. (at first at least cause I dont think Id bring this stuff with me)

Darth SS 03-21-2004 11:10 PM

Add to my guy...

A zippo lighter.

Two extra clips of ammunition for his gun.

A funnel pen

A magnifying glass (For fine print)

And some random Archeology books.

Pfft. I'm always like that... I don't roleplay to be exactly like I am right now! ...And if I did my character would already exhibit those... soooo... don't have to worry about that from me. IHMN however...

I'm more likely to get a severe phobia of... say... pants.

Would it be possible to bang a gun against the wall and do a luck roll? You know... smacking things usually works for mechanical repair checks in the real world.

Forever Zero 03-21-2004 11:12 PM

Sithdarth, you're updated. And after our first mission, we will get a base of operations, and I will probably wait a month game time to consider both everyone's relative newness to their new "Proffesion" as warriors against the forces of evil, but also for all the chars to settle in. And I was wrong about the location, but it will all work out.

That's what I forgot! A list of what you can do while game time passes between missions. Does anyone want a list, or just ask what you can do when the time comes?

EDIT:SS, I'm on it.

krylo, we can work that out if your guy develops Indefinite Insanity...

EDIT: Alright, I added your items SS, but since I considered it a carried item, it's just 1 book on Archeology. It will still be useful however, I might consider it giving a bonus to your Archeology rolls or something.

Sithdarth 03-21-2004 11:16 PM

One quick question; say we are going to a murder scene and we send up a few of the stronger willed people to cover up the body or the major part left how would that effect the rest when they came up.

IHateMakingNames 03-21-2004 11:16 PM

Quote:

Strange sexual desires (Exhibitionism, nymphomania or satyriasis, teratophilia, etc.)
Fetish (investigator latches onto some object, type of object, or person as a sort of security blanket.)
A mix of those two could be intresting.

And would we get to choose what are Insane thing is, or is it random and dice rolled?

Also, after a while of demon hunting/cult killing, wouldn't people get used to these things and the sanity checks would be less intense?

Krylo 03-21-2004 11:17 PM

I think FZ already pointed out that you do get desensitized, but if you go long enough without seeing something like it the desenitization wears off, and you go back to having to make unaltered sanity rolls.

Forever Zero 03-21-2004 11:19 PM

If the stronger willed people cleaned up the scene, it would probably take away the sanity loss for the rest since there is no longer a horrible scene of death and mutilation to witness. However, it won't always, or even usually be murder scenes, most of the Insanity Checks will come from random monsters or sudden horrors you can't defend against.

EDIT: krylo covered it. Also, I think I mentioned it, but as our Cthulhu Mythos goes up (Some things make it go up against your will as a warning), you maximum Sanity goes down, and as time passes it is harder and harder to resist your sanity rolls.

Also, to a degree you choose your sanity loss, and that is a list of possible repsonses, but if I don't like how the RPers cover sanity losses, I will switch over to a die system and you will have to deal with what I randomly throw at you. Also, some scenes force your to react a certain way if you fail a sanity check (Say, if the huge monster appears, anyone that passes sees the monster, but those that fail could instead see the illusion spell the monster cast on itself, and may instead see the monster as a friend.)

And like I said in the attachment, Indefinite Insanity your definitly consult with me and we both decide on something.

lazy man 03-21-2004 11:23 PM

New items:

Playing Cards
Wrist Watch
Pocket Knife
Flashlight(or whatever it would be)
Crowbar

Darth SS 03-21-2004 11:25 PM

By chance, if we consistently fail Sanity Checks, does our Sanity go down over time?

Like, with my luck, I'd fail sanity checks on every single mission. After six or so missions, would I be harder to drive insane, or would I be more suseptible to it?

Forever Zero 03-21-2004 11:27 PM

This is a warning, not from the game, but from research I just did Lazy. The thing closest to a modern flashlight would be a Carbide Lamp, HOWEVER, there is a chance that the Carbide Lamp could spring a leak and explode. I would say while the lamp is on I will do occasional Luck Rolls or some sort of roll, and if it fails, the lamp breaks and explodes in 1-2 rounds. A gasoline lamp is the other alternative, and they are mostly safe unless they are suddenly dropped or broken. Then they too may explode on you, but while just carrying it I believe they are safe. Your call on one of the two.

As sanity drops, bascially the lower your sanity the weaker your mental state, thus a 30 might mean someone who is jumpy or prone to be afraid of the dark, while someone with a 90 is an iron rock that laughes at fear. As your Sanity Points go down, you become more likely to fail your rolls.

Only Cthulhu Mythos can permenantly lower your Sanity, everything else can be healed with time and therapy.

lazy man 03-21-2004 11:29 PM

Alright then, replace it with a gas lamp.

Forever Zero 03-21-2004 11:31 PM

Updated.

Sithdarth 03-21-2004 11:40 PM

If its not to much trouble id like to change a few stat points. Here are the new numbers:

Stats:
Strength-7
Constitution-9
Size-10
Intelligence-16
Dexterity-5
Power-10
Appearance-4
Education-19
Sanity-50

Non-stats:
Hp-10
Mp-10

Idea roll-80
Luck roll-50
Know roll-95

I made no changes to any of the things that would effect my skills so it should be easy.

Forever Zero 03-21-2004 11:57 PM

Updated. It dropped your Dodge 2%, but that's not major. (Starting Dodge is equal to DEX x2.)

Sithdarth 03-22-2004 12:05 AM

I planned it to have minor impact on everything else and major impact on sanity . I figured whats the use of being a meatsheild if you go insane and run away. Now may sanity is on par, about, with my hp and general resistance to damage so i can take a good beating for the team and not go insane. I can also be of more help in investigating crimes.

Edit:
Reading mythos books about monsters increases your mythos points and permenatly decreases sanity right? Also, just for clarification is there any chance of finding non-mythos books on things such as zombies, Vamps, Warewolfs ect. since they have peen part of human culture and general knowledge for very long times. Seeing them real would take a toll but reading legends and the like written by normal people that set down legends wouldnt be so bad I think. These books wouldnt have detailed info and might require longer to extract the info out of however; and of course you wouldnt learn spells or how to summon any of these things.

Forever Zero 03-22-2004 12:21 AM

*Looks at Stats* Ironic, you have a lot of useful non-combat skills, yet you also have the perfect stats for a meat shield, a paradox...

Well, sort of. There are of course fiction books and old legends on things such as Vampires, Zombies, and Werewolves, but many of them have been both overly dramatized and are full of false information. I won't reveal what so you all really won't have an idea what actual Call vamps and the like are and aren't weak against, but the only thing that would have accurate info would be actual Cthulhu Mythos books that provide a full penalty to read and understand. There will be interpretations of Mythos books that aren't as bad as others, but they also have less knowledge (For instance, there could be three versions of a book, one with full info and a 10 point penalty and a collection of spells, one with most info but lost some spells and events in translation and has a 7 point penalty and fewer spells, and one that was practically butchered in translation from the last and provides a 3 penalty and no spells. Also note, you can skim a book once and get a general idea of both what is in the book, and what spells you may be able to learn, but you need to fully read the book before you can start learning spells from it. So there will be books, but they may not be trustworthy or worthwhile.)

Sithdarth 03-22-2004 12:31 AM

Seems to happen a lot for me. Even more ironic is that everything works well as is, Ill be a handy meatshield as well as a really handy noncombat character. Then when I get my heavy weapons like the MCs and such ill be a very handy meatshield.

Edit:
Another Irony, I've noticed some of the traits on the insanty list in myself in very mild forms. No surprise here cause I also have no short term memory, literaly, seem to have mild audlt add, and a few other minor problems that seem to stem from my 169 IQ.

On a happy note just noticed its my 100th post.

Forever Zero 03-22-2004 12:37 AM

You won't be able to handle MCs, only SMGs. Your too small for an MC, since you need a 16 STR and a 16 SIZ to carry and use an MC.

Hmm, maybe I will make some sort of super meatshield who's only goal is to be able to carry a MG into battle as my char...

EDIT: I've never taken an IQ test, guess I need to do that one day.

Sithdarth 03-22-2004 12:43 AM

Ok I probably should not use metaphors and abbrevations in the same post. Ill change MC to MK for Moltove Cocktails from now on so you know the difference.

Tor 03-22-2004 12:43 PM

Could you add a pack of cigarets to my char, and a zippo pluss some clothes?

Dr DR 03-22-2004 12:55 PM

In terms of extra generic items can I have some binoculars carried inside my briefcase, a wristwatch, and a crowbar (assuming this will fit inside the briefcase also)?

Forever Zero 03-22-2004 12:59 PM

Alright, getting to both those. And I think the crowbar would fit, it would just be a smaller one.

EDIT: Updated.

Demon with a Glass Hand 03-22-2004 03:13 PM

Aight'. Update of my item list is as follows:

Pocket Knife
Tool Outfit (stowed in the trunk of his car)

Of course the Secretary is only a request. *ahem* May I have a secretary?

Forever Zero 03-22-2004 03:16 PM

*Gasp* That's, err, quite a list Demon... I'll let you finalise things you have at home in the RP, but you might want to wait a bit, and add things to the base later after the RP gets going and you see what I have planned...

However, I will update the list of items as best as I can.

IHateMakingNames 03-22-2004 03:18 PM

All of my guys items he carries with him (Except the car). I figured that all at home/at office stuff we would just make up if we ever needed to go to house or office.

New thread? The non-pre-RP discussion one?

Forever Zero 03-22-2004 03:18 PM

I'll leave this up for right this second, but the RP and a Discussion thread for the RP will be up later.

Demon with a Glass Hand 03-22-2004 03:24 PM

*thumbs up/winning smile* Just being thorough, Zero.
