Audiosurf - Really play your MP3s.
 

Remember Vib Ribbon? That one game where you put your favourite music CD in the PLaystation and you ran along a course generated by your CD? Well, Audiosurf shares this same concept. You choose a ship to use out of the avaliable choices, choose a difficulty, and then select an MP3 or CD to use with the game, and then you race along a course generated by your chosen song. That's not all. You have to collect and match up different coloured blocks on the course, with each matching set awarding points. Each choice of ship brings a slightly different style of play to the table. The Ninja Mono, one of the hard mode ships, has to dodge score destroying grey blocks, the Pusher can move blocks and the Pointman can store blocks for optimal score possibilites.

Even better, every song has its own ranking tables so you can try to score more than everyone else at your favourite song.

For those having trouble with Audiosurf, here's what I did to get it working:

1. Download the Beta Weekend 1 EXE from http://www.ltp0wer.com/files/SetupAu...d1_1.11.08.exe

2. Download Audiosurfboard 2 from http://rs223.rapidshare.com/files/83...urfboard.2.rar

3. Install Audiosurf Beta 1

4. Find and open up your hosts file, which on Windows should be in C:\WINDOWS\system32\Drivers\etc. Change the extention to .txt to be able to edit it. If you're on Vista make sure to be on an Admin account.

5. add the following lines to the hosts file:
127.0.0.1 204.13.11.27
127.0.0.1 audio-surf.com
127.0.0.1 www.audio-surf.com

6. run Audiosurfboard 2

7. Run Audiosurf.

If it asks you to log in just click use existing account, mash in anything as the pass and accept it. You are unable to create your own account offline.

If you installed Beta Weekend 2, make sure to completely uninstall it and delete the Audiosurf folder found on Windows in Program Files, otherwise you may encounter even mroe problems.

I like it.

With hte music I lisetn to, it often decides to focus on vocals and percussion, and on occasion, the guitar. But I've only played Mono thus far. Gonna try harder difficulties soon.

Since this is technically a beta, I expect it will cost something when it's released eventually.

People are using a program called Audiosurfboard to circumvent the time limit on the beta, although I expect the developers will do something about that eventually. As well as fix a rather huge exploit in the game that can unfairly get you on the highest rankings.

I played it and though it crashed on me I did love the songs I did get to play, especially "I Am... All of Me" by Crush 40.
Yes that's the theme to Shadow The Hedgehog, which I also enjoyed.

Maybe a FPS where the map is made based on the beats of a song? XD

Loving it right now. I fully intend on getting this game for my pc, even if I do have to pay for it.

Played it with AudioBoard during this week, so far "A Moment of Silence" by Streelight Manifesto was the best one.

Did I... did I just miss it? It keeps telling me that Beta has expired.

I'm sad now.

i would like to test this with the Need for speed Soundtrack

but if someone wants to do that for me (still downloading) i'll appreaciate =P
