A New President?

Well i don't know if it's already been posted but, there's goin to be a new president and i'd like to know how you feel about a a female or african american president.

Huh?

This is the primary phase, there are 14 candidates and there has been no decision yet.

I am not sure that I understand,
But I know, there is no way that whoever gets in I will bitch relentlessly when they screw up.

Plus, it kinda gets into sexist & racist territory. It really shouldn't matter. You pick who you think is the best, given your choices.

Sure, it might be "Historic", but I couldn't tell you the name of the first Black man or Woman to be a US Governor. I know its happened, but it isn't something I could point to.

And there's the rub, its only really significant until it happens, after that, unless you're a history buff, it begins to lose its significance. Especially, if it becomes more commonplace.

Race and gender are irrelevant; what really matters is whether or not the person who is elected US president can do the job and do it well. I feel that we need someone who takes responsibility and has a definite, FEASIBLE plan of action for resolving our current situation in Iraq (and bringing Flarecobra and the other soldiers deployed out there home alive), bringing the US out its current economic downward spiral, and providing a way for everyone to have equal and reasonable access to healthcare at reasonable rates.

There are other issues that I feel that it is important for the next US President to address, but I'll post about those at another time.

What's with the blue? Anyway I think it's great that they're actually serious contenders and not novelty "minority candidates". But as for the candidates personally? I'm too left wing to really like either of them. Better them than the Republicans though. Not that my opinion really matters being an Australian living in Australia anyway.

I think what he means is "How do you think the rest of the world that isn't nice and awesome like the NPF is going to react in the likely event of a blakc or female (allegedly) president?"

It certainly isn't going to be all flowers and rainbow, as far as I know there isn't a gay candidate.

Actually, with Thompson and Kucinich gone, there are only 8 candidates (9 if you count Gravel, but he's not getting any votes anyway)

I don't understand this. There are plenty of female and different race leaders around the world. I don't see why anyone would have a problem with it.

Honestly, I wouldn't mind a female or a black president, but I do not like Hillary and I think Barack would be assassinated.

I'm ready, but America isn't.
