I'm don't think he's trying to take away the competitive aspect but rather remove all the technical aspects that separate the pros from the amateurs.
Classic Smash was very competitive in it's day without wave-dancing and L-canceling and all that jazz. |

Seriously, goddamned powergamers know how to suck the fun out of everything. Brawl seems to have the largest soundtrack for any video game yet. Not totally sure about that, though. Still, it makes me happy. I wonder how many rearrangements of the main theme there are. I know I've heard at least four that I can think of off the top of my head. Anyone have an image of R.O.B. Kirby yet? |

He was being sarcastic, guys. He was making fun of one of the more common misconceptions in gamers, that being competitive and being fun are separate.
Specifically, in SSBM where the game is simple enough that there is not a readily apparent competitive aspect to it, so more casual gamers make such a distinction. Basically, it's a debate that I've seen a few times, but mostly in terms of SSBM. So he's saying that may be a reason behind toning down the technical qualities of the game (that kind of argument/bitching). |

Ashley's Theme I have set to repeat.
I CAN'T BEAR TO PUSH STOP WHY SAKURAI YOUR MUSIC SELECTIONS ARE TOO GOOD. |
Oh my. Oh my.
SAKURAI YOU'RE A FUCKING TEASE I also want to share tons of matches by competitive people. You can see how they are adapting, as well as some insanely awesome strategies involving mindgaming (SNAKE AND GANON): http://www.wifiwars.com/?q=node/75 |
