Played through some of SSE, in school right now but doing some more when I get out.
Ike still handles like a very slow whore that kills you at 60%. Which means I'll be sub weapon buttoning him. Pit handles fine, kills faster than Meta Knight (I did an online match with a friend; His MK put me at 180 and failed and I hit him up to 150% and killed.) but moves just as fast. I think I've got a hang of his up-B but still wish it were better. I guess this is balance or something. As for ONLINE, everything seems to move a bit slower so any quick reactions that the opponet (or yourself) would try to make get lagged out most of the time, but it still funcitons quite well. I beat him out 8/9 times (All victories with Pit and Ike...I lost when I tried to use Luigi). |
...Hmm. So, Pit and Ike are fairly popular characters? I've gotta try playing as somebody else then, just so we don't end up with just those two guys like in the Shiek vs Marth vs Fox tournaments.
Also, assuming we'll have a tournament at some point (I'll set one up myself if one doesn't turn up before I do), have the basic tourney rules changed much? I mean, sure, you could still have Final Destination No Items, but you could have a variety of levels instead - including custom maps - that would function just as well. In addition, I don't know if the Smash Ball counts as an item for that purpose; it's really well balanced, and without it you can't use your character's full moveset. In my opinion, a good tournament would have all items except instant-death items (OMFG GOLDEN HAMMER SO BROKEN AAAHHH) and simply random maps every time - I think that part of the "skill" of the game is to use the environment to your advantage. Of course, I never played competitively... and am still nowhere near competitive level... but whatever. It's a new game, and I feel some of that potential is wasted if you just play one level. |
I'm near the end of that hellish "Maze" level. God damn is that thing long. My percentage complete is around 84% or so I'll definitely be finishing this when I get off work later. It's too bad I'll probably crash later since I was up until 4am playing it and had to get up at 7am today for work. Ugghh....

I've for some reason taking a liking to Dedede. He's slow but I think I've gotten a good handle on him. I haven't played the game enough to experiance every character enough to find everything. (Only got 12 or so hours in because of sleep, work, and school) But I'm going to be playing this alot online and multiplayer. So find me online (friend code on Nuklearpedia) and have some fun!
Well... I suck I'm sure compared to a few of you, but practice makes perfect! |

I'm the Mario in this match. I do better this time. |
Brawl is out! My life is now complete. Oh, man. I'm completely inundated in schoolwork now, otherwise I would be playing until my eyes bleed. I'm going to play so much this weekend that it'll make me nauseous, though. Oh, and I'll post my Brawl friend code ASUP.
This game handles very differently from Melee (for me, anyways). Beyond the obvious transition from Gamecube controller to Wiimote/Nunchuck, everything seems a little bit slower, with character's moves a little more pronounced. Characters have a very "floaty" feel in Brawl, much more so than the lead weights from Melee. I'm sure other people have noticed this as well, regarding characters: Every single one of them is fun to play! Unlike Melee, I can select any character in Brawl and genuinely enjoy playing with them. My favorite so far, as I had expected, is the Pokemon Trainer. He has three completely different playstyles available, and you have to master all of them to succeed. Very fun. |

[edit] on topic, you know what really makes this thing addictive. It spoon-feeds you content at a perfect rate. Just as your starting to get bored with something you unlock a new character, or level, or event. Its actually kinda sadistic, this must be what cracks like |
Meta Knight is just like we've been thinking: Quick, fast, and no ability to knock enemies out... I actually didn't like playing him in SSE.
Also, got past The Path to The Ruins, and I've only gotten Marth unlocked. Oh, and holy fuck you get a lot of coins in this game. |
