FF RP II; CH.2: And now the real fun starts.

Biggs waded through the hallway of contestants, then the constant and loud warking of the stables, and arrived in front of a small door. He didn’t bother knocking and stepped in.

“Big crowd out there Wedge, you ready?” Biggs said to his business partner. Wedge was startled awake. He checked the mirror for any bags under his eyes and was satisfied at their small number.

“Yep yep, gotta give the folks what they want.” Wedge said, straightening himself up.

“Right…just, keep the number of folks down below a few thousand this year ok?” Biggs said, sighing. His job was over and he wanted a nap.

Wedge stepped out of the room, went down the secret passage to the stadium entrance, and readied himself. He took a deep breath, and stepped out. The crowd exploded into applause, and he took an even deeper breath to ready himself for all the yelling ahead. Then he spotted a young man running towards him, and he became slightly confused when the aide attached a small object to his cuff. He decided to roll with it, and turned in a full circle to grasp the enormity of the crowd.

Well, guess Biggs wasn’t lying… Wedge thought. Not one seat was left. And they were all excited about the days events.

“Welcome folks.” Wedge said, and his voice echoed out, which was new. He guessed it had to do with the device on his neck. “This year is shaping up to be the most exciting, the most action-filled, the most MOST, of any year, and its all for you folks!” Wedge said, feeding on the crowds’ energy. “Because this year, the competitors are out for more than the enormous prize money, more than the respect and esteem. This year, they’re also competing for a prized and honorary spot on Veimi’s personal force. Heck, lets take a moment and give a big shout out to Veimi for letting all you folks come and enjoy today.” Wedge said, picking out Veimi’s personal sitting area. The leader of Combast reluctantly stood up and waved to a storm of applause.

“Now, we’ll start off today with the Chocobo races, and remember folks, the betting booths are still open on every event today, and there are a variety of vendors and shops available if you wanna lose your money voluntarily. And now for your pre-tournament entertainment, the famous Besta Animal Circus!” Wedge said, and then slinked back into the passage as dogs and birds and a whole assortment of animals sprang out, trailed by their Besta trainers. Wedge managed to dodge the chcocobo riders who began to pour out of the stables to the starting gates. He took off the strange device and sat down. “Gunna be a long day…”

(OOC: I'll have the intros for each event written up by tomm. at the lastest)

OOC: And I live again! I hope ya'll don't mind me comin' back in so late... Damn grades...

Norachai had explored the city for a little while, and got in some very impressive sights. It was true what they said. This place was very beautiful, and also had much to learn. After a while though, he noticed a gathering in front of a large building, "Ah... I see that the tournament must be starting soon. I better get ready."

He made his way over to the Cross building, as he had come to call it. Pushing aside the door, he saw the Doctor working on some forms. "Dr. Oedupe?"

He looked up and gave out a smile. "I see you have noticed the commotion."

"Yes... is it about to start?"

The doctor nodded, "Yes, and you better get in before it's too late." He scribbled a note down on paper, then got up to hand it to him. "Just give them this. It is a pass from me to get close to the grounds. It will be important to have someone close to the battles. If anything gets too serious, just bring them back here for further treatment."

Norachai nodded. "Thank you." Bowing slightly, he moved to the door and pushed it aside. He walked up to the arena door and saw the man taking in tickets, just about to leave. "Wait! Please hold one second. I have something to give to you!" Walking up to him, the note was passed on.

Edit- Damn it! Missed the second thread... Trying to cut in.

OOC: Uh, who's Veimi?

IC: Dust built up in front of a guard's face as a chocobo rider rode up to the gates of the arena. Coughing and hacking with dust in his eyes as well, the guard looked up. Demios looked at the guard with disgust, as if he was a lower being.

"Hey, you." The guard coughed again, rubbed his eyes and looked at Demios. "Can I help you?"
"Yeah. Tell me, are chocobos allowed in the stands?"
"Uh, no, sorry sir, you'll have to give your chocobo to the stables over there." The guard pointed. Demios looked at the guard with an annoyed look and sighed. The guard fell over as Demios threw a kick into the guard's stomach. His armor wasn't very thick, and he was an older man, so he fell over, dropping his spear. "I repeat, ARE CHOCOBOS ALLOWED IN THE STANDS?!" The guard looked at Demios with fear. He was a well respected guard, not many had defied him, so this was something new to him. Stumbling up, the guard snatched at the old spear and pointed it toward Demios. "For assaulting a guard of the arena, I must place you under arrest!" (Hell, what else could I say?) Rolling his eyes, Demios hopped down from his chocobo and drew his rusty long sword, holding it with one hand. The guard stepped back as the half demon advanced slowly. "See this?" Demios pointed at some tomato juice from a tomato a merchant threw at him earlier the day. "That's the blood of the last guard who said chocobo's weren't allowed in that area. And soon, your blood will mix with it."
"W-welcome to th-the arena s-sir." Demios smiled.

"That's more like it."

Tycho and his companion were waiting for their event.

"Warm-up time?"

"Warm up time."

In response they both whipped their naginatatas out and started a very fast clash against each other.

Musashi had a servant bring him a cup of hot tea. he gracefully sipped the tea. His face was calk and without emotion. His eyes were halflidded like he was in a daze. His mind was clear. He noticed everything, he noticed nothing. He gracefully sipped his steaming tea.

Darilk was leaning against a wall in a room with some of his 'group', awaiting the battle. They still had some time to wait, so they were free to do as they pleased for now. As such, his armor was off and in the corner, revealing his rather large musculature and a leather tunic and leggings he had been wearing under it, and they could come and go from waiting areas, if need be.

A red rose was being twirled in between his fingers quietly as he stared at it, lost in thoughts of little import. It wasn't long before the nagging reminder that he wasn't allowed to kill in the upcoming battle entered his mind, however.

The dark knight rose from the wall and glanced around, his gaze falling onto the merchant, Ripel. As much as he disliked the man currently, if he was to spare lives and blood he would need to speak to him, and so the Dark Knight set the rose on a nearby table and walked over to the merchant.

"I need to rent new gauntlets. My current ones are too dangerous for the tournament."

(OOC: If Ripel would be someplace other than a waiting room, I'll alter my first paragraph a little.)

[OOC:] Now that I'm back, I get to use my guy! Woohoo![/OOC]

Blyr was in the waiting room as well, however his mind wasn't. He was meditating on the battle royale his team was going to enter, hoping that his time meditating would hone his reflexes. Plus, he could use the boost in concentration, as Ripel's constant talking has been giving the Geomancer quite a headache...

Junochi was sitting in the waiting room, listening to all the commotion around him. His bow was at his side, already strung and ready to use. He could tell that he was getting some stares, but the shapes of those staring at him were quick to leave. They probably knew better than to try socializing or angering an Ibric, so their haste around him was kind of expected.

Zatara stopped meditating. He had been for a while so now it was time to practic fighting. He was good, but not really all that good. He had his magic to help him out if he had problems, which was always a plus. He saw the others in the competition. Then he looked at his group. Heh this might be as easy as ripel makes it out to be... He thought as he starteed his warm up.

MC43 03-21-2004 09:09 PM

He waited for the man to stop, but he did not, and walked right past Norachai. Shrugging, he made his way into the arena, walking into a deep hallway. He tried his best to follow signs, hoping to get to the actual ring, but nothing would show him way, so he just wondered about aimlessly, wondering if he had made it to the right place.
