XKCD
Yes, finally, XKCD gets its own thread. Many people I've shown it to don't like it, but it pretty much embodies all of my interests. Advanced and practical math, science and physics, romance, my sense of humor, recurring jokes, raptor attacks, etc.
I love this comic. Anyone else read it? Comments? Etc? |
XKCD is the most unfunny and hopelessly pathetic nerd pandering I've ever had the misfortune to read outside of, perhaps, a hypothetical comic strip centered solely around internet memes and Holy Grail jokes.
http://imgs.xkcd.com/comics/pod_bay_doors.png What the fuck is this shit. Edit: http://imgs.xkcd.com/comics/journal_2.png I fucking hate this comic. |
not surprisingly, XKCD is one of the comics I love, because I can laugh at every comic.
Take XKCD, add in a whole bunch of "WHY WOULD YOU DO THAT" and you have Yacc Crop Imp. |
It's hit and miss with me. Usually hit.
Definitely better than most comics out there. |

You have to read some of the previous comics to understand that one. I love it, even when it gets all sappy because the author gets heartbroken or remembers a long-lost girlfriend*. XKCD is one of those few comics I consider worthy enough to check every single time they update. And guess what? It updates. *Actually, I think I like it more because of that. It feels real and not pretentious at all, unlike some other sappy-melodrama webcomics whose sole purpose is to show how deeply damaged (and idiotic) their characters are in matters of love (coughMEGATOKYOcough). |
A funny thing about the hat stealing comic is that if you hold your mouse over it, the image text says something like "She took my hat."
|
I totally agree with DFM on the nerd-pandering comment. It's the type of thing I'd expect to see in text-only emails sent back and forward between some pocket-protector wearers.
I find that Bunny often does the same general idea of the jokes that XKCD does, and does them much better. |

You're not the only one it irks.
Seriously guys that one I linked is fine but you probably don't want to read the rest at work. ... but yeah, the relationship comics I could quite frankly go without. The rest is good. |
