Console Restoration

So, I have two PSPs, both bricked. One for my birthday last year, one for christmas before that. I had little understanding of how the software and stuff worked, so they were both bricked (made to not work by messing up the software). By friend has pandora's battery, a battery that rewrites the Flash Bios or something, unbricks them. I'm getting them fixed tomorrow. Yay!

Anyone else have stories of semi-miraculous unbrickage of consoles?

I thought mine blew up but then I got the recovery file and booted from that and I fixed it and I was glad 'cause I bought my PSP from a friend for $300.

I didn't brick mine, but I bought a Super Official Fix it Kit, installed Totally Legitimate Software (Version 3.71 M33-3), and now I'm certainly not playing Earthbound and Chrono Trigger and Mike Tyson's Punch Out on it.

But yeah, when I got the kit a friend of mine mentioned he had a PSP that would just turn on, sit, and turn off automatically. I'm like, "Hmmm...you know, I can fix that..." and he's indebted to me ever since.

Brick'd our old PS2. I got pissed and ripped the thing open.

It takes a fucking DVD drive. just a standard DVD drive.

Needless to say, I was one DVD drive short in my closet server and my PS2 works again... albeit, i had to put it in a new fancy cardboard case. I'll post a pic of it later if Mirai reminds me.

My DC just up and decided to start working again one day. I choose not to ask why.

My story's not about a console, but about a game.

Zelda for the SNES!

A buddy of mine foudn his SNES in a closet and was all excited to pop in the Zelda cart he found along with it. He did so, and it didn't work. I took a close look and announced that the game was unplayable -- the actual cartridge thingie in the bottom was waaaay out of wack, crooked and bent out of shape somehow.

In a burst of rage, he grabbed the cartridge and smashed it on the coffee table. Someone said, "Wouldn't it be funny if it worked now?"

...It did.

Y'know, of course school would be cancelled today, the one day I actually have a reason and desire to go to get my damn PSPs fixed. Fuckin' snow.

Yeah i bricked my own PSP and I have been in need of a cure ever since.

If there is one out there I would be eternally grateful.

Is there anyone out there attuned to the machine spirit that can help us?

Google "Pandora's Battery". Its a special battery that rewrites the flash bios or flash rom or whatever it is that its deletion causes brickage. All you need is a plain 'ol battery and a working psp to make one. They can be used many times to unbrick PSPs, downgrade them, or convert to custom firmware.
