Questionable Content

I love this comic.

I know most people here have likely heard of it, but it deserves a thread. My favorite character is Hannelore. I think she's adorable in appearance and personality.

Hanners is awesome.

That is all.

Oh hey it's another awful comic.

How ya doin'?

Seil 02-12-2008 11:36 PM

I read it. I've got some in this forum, and so has Mirai.

Eltargrim 02-12-2008 11:48 PM

DFM, I think I've reached a conclusion.

You are a being of pure loathing.

Can I distil some of your essence? Please?

I like that comic and I don't know why. It is not in keeping with any of usual themes. There is nothing epic about it whatsoever. And yet it amuses me. :P

I really can't think of any 'epic' webcomics...I guess Dresden Codak, but that might be due to the way its drawn.

Anyways, I think QC is the comic closest to showing how normal people interact. I know it gets called out sometimes for having indie in-jokes, but its still the most realistic example of how people connect with one another, at least from my experience. Personally, I find that music is the best, and quickest way, to break the ice and foster new friendships (or at least offer a deeper insight into a person than discovering their favorite T.V. show or video game), and that same connection usually tends to stick around and last throughout the friendship or what have you.

My favorite character would probably have to be Winslow, but that's just my love of the straight man manifested. Hannelore is great when she's harnessing her OCD ("Drumming is counting with your whole body!!") but tends to be a bit much when it's controlling her.

Also, Jeph Jacques has great taste in music.

My biggest complaint with QC is that they arent very subtle at times, it almost feels like the author's going "IM INDIE SO IM COOL" on occasion.

Any specific examples? Maybe it's because I get a bunch of the references, but I've never read a comic and gone "Wow Jeph, congrats on being more versed, now how bout some content."*

I've always seen whatever music references there are as either an in-joke for readers who actually know the bands/culture (like the Wolf Bands v. Frog Bands shirt joke), or an accurate representation of how that character would talk if he/she liked said music.

*Well, that's not a complete truth. There was the comic where Martin and Sven compare indie-dicks, but that was in service of the joke (which I liked because I've done something similar), and Indie Tits is all about that, but, cmon, it's Indie Tits.

I have sworn blood vendettas against J Jacques on three separate occasions, so I am possibly not the most objective commentator on this subject. I just have a deep-seated hatred of anybody named "Jeph".

That said QC is a pretty okay comic, except for its intermittent habit of making fun of indie kids, as though every single goddamn character in the comic was not a goddamn indie kid.

Hell it updates daily and it's not abjectly ugly, that's like 90% of my webcomic-reading standards covered right there.

Of course by "daily" I mean "Not Goddamn Saturdays" which I mean what the hell, why can't anybody update a Goddamn webcomic on a Saturday?
