A glimpse at what never was: Chrono Resurrection Playthrough (aka FUCK YOU SQUARE)

Just thought you might want to watch this. The actual gameplay doesn't start until 05:00.

Is anybody else crying?

Ryu Van Burace 02-21-2008 05:55 PM

ah yes I remember this, everyone was really excited when the project kept going showing some extremely great renders of Crono and Zombone with no word from Squeenix about it, it seemed liked it was going to go ok.
Then the cease and desist order. The team kept going on their own for their own personal use but can't release it outside (afaik this was the story). It did then bring hope for a remake especially as Squeenix reserved domain names for "Chrono Break" but sadly this seems to have fallen by the wayside too.

God. I wouldn't mind the cancellation of the project so much if they would do their own remake already.

EDIT: Okay seriously that writer has no grasp of Middle English. But still. Fuck Square.

Also, was Chrono given dialogue in the form of thinking "What a beautiful day"? Cause that seems like something he wouldn't do. You know...give any inkling of a dialogue.

Regulus Tera 02-21-2008 06:20 PM

He had a dialogue in one of the endings, though certainly not at that point in the game.

Savage Thinking 02-21-2008 06:52 PM

I figured it was just showing the viewer his thoughts. Also, Frog's dialogue bothered the hell outta me. It was completely off, and just seemed like a joke.

Also, the music made me feel all gitty inside. Same goes for the battle transition.

Moogle0119 02-21-2008 07:21 PM

Wow....

I almost wish I hadn't seen that now. Definitely brings back memories and I hate Square-Enix even more now for never having released a sequel. Too good to be true.

*goes off to cry in the corner and console himself*

Isn't Chrono Cross technically the sequel?

Professor Smarmiarty 02-21-2008 07:50 PM

Technically yes. But it's rather like the embarassing family member. You're related you just try not to mention it too often.

If you follow that storyline, both Crono and Marle get killed by invading soldiers in a war less than ten years after destroying an ancient monster which is controlling all evolution for its own purposes. So an emphatic no.
