What do you think?

First, I would like to say two things:
1)If you know my first name, don't post here (c'mon, I see you guys every day, and you told me about it)
2)Don't bring up the arguement/debate of my first post

Earlier, I was shown the Dragon Disciple prestige class in the 3.5 DM guide.
Needless to say, it was awesome. In case you don't know of it, it is basically a way to gradually turn your character into a halfdragon.

I was thinking this is really cool, but if I do this, my sorcerer powers will cease to grow. It is indeed a great dilemna, I can choose to either become a lvl20 sorcerer (eventually), or a lvl10 half-dragon, half-halfling sorcerer (not counting any epic level 'cuz we probably aren't going to do that).

I decided to ask for advice now because it will still be a couple weeks until I can start doing it

Magic E-Mail Chicken 03-21-2004 10:51 PM

Well, if you cant decide, do what any DM would do. ROLL THE DICE!

krain 03-21-2004 10:59 PM

This decision is far too important to solve by alowing randomness into the situation

Krylo 03-21-2004 11:28 PM

A half dragon halfling is so wrong on so many levels that I just have to throw my vote with the sorceror.

Gramcrackered 03-22-2004 11:52 AM

Should this thread be moved?

Anyway. To be honest, Dragon Disciples are only cool in theory. In reality, you end up with a crappy version of a monk with piddling sorcerer abilities. I've yet to see a build I deemed viable.

I have to agree with Gram, the Disciple is only good in theory, especially since you're a midget, all the attacks are weaker. The only way to make this class work is to twink it greatly (i.e. cheat like you're a 1st level fighter fighting an elder dragon)

Wintermute 03-22-2004 11:34 PM

Play Hordes of the Underdark. You can be a lvl 20 sorcerer and a lvl 20 dragon disciple!

IHateMakingNames 03-22-2004 11:37 PM

I'm with krylo on this... Half dragon anything is just wrong, but a half dragon/half halfling is worse... Why does it half to be half halfling anyway? The sheer physics of that are mind boggling...

Wintermute 03-22-2004 11:38 PM

Yeah, dude, halfling sorcerer? Come on.

The_Bear 03-22-2004 11:53 PM

Actually, in my expience, gnomes and halflings make good spellcasters. I would go for the half-dragon, but I find myself agreeing with the others here in saying that a half-halfling-half-dragon would be too inneffective. What the heck would a half-halfling be anyway, a quarterling or a three-forthsling? Anyway, the level 20 sorcerer has more potential for success and not being laughed at, because my lucky blue dice said so.
